He really likes how May's shoes reek of piss.

Personally I was getting sick of them talking about the Rays' pitcher's cat fetish

John Smoltz didn't know what to do with that comment, so he wisely stayed away.

sure yeah that's not creepy at all.

Actual, that's Tony Gonsolin on the Dodgers, but, yeah, that line of discussion is quite annoying.  The people on the local Dodger broadcast already did it to death during the regular season, and now the national broadcasters are getting into the act.

Smoltz was a great pitcher and is a fine announcer.
Buck is the son of a great announcer.

It must be hellish for anyone to work with him, but the pay's good.

Did Buck call him a "Stud," too?

Well, he just may.

Super Chronic: Quoting Dave Roberts but whatever

I was fully onboard the Joe Buck HateTrain™ until maybe about 5 years ago when, to his credit, he did lighten up and improve as a broadcaster by demonstrating he could at least modulate his voice and demeanor in the booth beyond "oscillating desk fan on medium setting".

I'll gladly take a few weird comments from him compared to the alternative. If it makes John Smoltz uncomfortable for five seconds at a time, who cares.

I think what people don't like, more than anything, is his sheer ubiquity. Fox gives him the World Series and the Super Bowl (when it's on Fox) and the NFC game of the week, as if he were some kind of broadcasting superstar. If he were just another announcer doing Fox's B and C football games every week, nobody would care much about him.

They could bring back Vin Scully to tell the story
