Except for the bad drinker and crapping his pants, everything else in the headline about Cary Grant I already heard & read about decades ago.

'What other life could there be but that of an actor. They happily traveled and toured. They were classless, cheerful and carefree. They gaily laughed, lived and loved,' Grant remembered.

Not the best-written of articles.  This paragraph caught my eye:
Grant viewed her (his mother) as a 'well meaning psychological assassin' and preferred eating his dinner off a tray in front of the TV so he wouldn't have to face her at the dinner table.

Neat trick since this would have been in the early part of the century.

Regardless of what he felt about himself, how can you not love a guy for this response?  When Warner's was making the movie version of My Fair Lady, they were looking for someone other than Rex Harrison to play Higgins.  An executive sent Grant's agent a telegram reading, "How old Cary Grant?"
Grant was in the agent's office at the time, and responded himself:  "Old Cary Grant fine.  How you?"

Which ones?  Randolph Scott, Sophia Loren, LSD, alcoholism, or incontinence?

Only knew one person why continued doing LSD regularly after high school.
That person is dead now.
And has been for quite awhile.

That stopped me too, but I did some delving and he got Mum out of the bin and took her in when he was rich 'n' famous.

Arsenic and Old Lace is definitely my favorite Cary Grant movie. It's his best comedic performance in one of the best - and darkest - comedies you'll ever see.

I didn't start until after high school.
Not dead.

I don't really get how one becomes 'addicted' to it though.

This person drank pretty heavily also.

As for the addiction it's an emotional one.
No physical aspect.
Just got in a mindset that they wanted to be in that state.
They did it almost daily when it was around and bought large quantities to get through the times it wasn't.

Cary Grant was my sexual awakening. Which was awkward for a young boy in the closing portion of the 20th century, you can imagine.

When I was a kid the last thing I wanted to do after tripping balls all night was trip balls the next night. I find it fascinating how people can do it every day, not in an envious way, but like psychologically.

John Cleese says he named his character in "A Fish Called Wanda" (which he wrote the screenplay for) Archie Leach because "this is as close as I'm ever going to get to Cary Grant."
