*I would have edited that, but fark you, I have no ball in this game, I just cannot believe how dumb you all are to let a "dead" president keep making laws for months.  Serously?  How farking farked up is your system to allow this sort of crap.

Let's see...

$3.99 a Big Mac. I believe tax in DC is around 5%? Factor that in with the coupon from Giuliani for a buy one get one free... That gets at least 12 burgers with some change left over.

I don't know. Three presidential lunches by my math. Two lunches and a 2am rage snack if he has company. Not a bad deal.

Every time i forget that Reuters annoys the fark out of me, i get reminded. They always come off as a moderately less derpy fair and balanced fox

Have you ever thought that maybe lawyers are just biased against despotism cause their careers depend on it? If we just let extrajudicial executions and lynch mobs be a normal thing, then there's no lengthy trials that they can make bank off of. Their very livelihoods depend on a system of laws that afford people "rights" to "fair representation" in a "court of law" with a "jury of their peers." Think of all the money we'd save if we just decided this shiat wasn't important.

recombobulator: Pats_Cloth_Coat: Trump is the only idiot to pay more to hide his taxes than he paid in taxes

That depends on how much tax he avoided.  From an accounting perspective it makes sense to pay $5,000,000 to avoid $5,000,001 in taxes.  You're a dollar richer even if you do wind up paying $750 instead of $5,000,751.

I'm not talking about what he paid to reduce his tax bill.

I'm talking about what he paid to keep Congress from seeing his tax returns.

Right now I can barely type, there is a every day live feed from the Portland BLM protests, that I regretfully find myself logging onto.  It is Hell.  I am constantly oppressed by trolls with Russian IPs, they flood the feed. Why am I as an Australian one of the few that rock up to those live feeds and fight the fascists?  I have been doing this for weeks and I cannot name you an Allie. Sure some pop up in the feed, but when I am there I seem to be the only coont with a brain, who supports BLM, has an issue with the cops, and gives a shiat about the USoA.

I got one of those, too.  Small world!

That's part of what he paid to reduce his tax bill.

I do not think someone becomes Trump's lawyer to give him money. They more than anyone else know what a scam artist he is.

hubiestubert: To be fair, he's gonna NEED their services a lot more if he loses, and they can make for damn sure he pays them up front. He stays in office, he's going to use the DOJ as his personal team.

i love to imagine this as an entirely cynical move on the lawyers' part.  their donations, ensuring Trump's prosecution without the DOJ's protection.  that's a lot of sweet sweet extra business!

Finally he went to bed.  Now no doubt many of those live feeds are still going, but it takes a lot of effort to follow them, let alone comment on them.

naughtyrev: gameshowhost: FlashHarry: gameshowhost: IDGAF - Jones Day is still working to protect Trump, when they could've easily ditched that particular orange client for unethical behavior up the yinger.

/the bar for 'yay' is roughly zero around here now
//let's just give jones day the hero tag and get it over with

I think it's more of a schadenfreude thing. the fact that even his own law firm is overwhelmingly supporting Biden.

I'm saying that it shouldn't qualify as schadenfreude.  That $89,950k differential changes nothing.  Jones Day has made a mint off of defending one of the worst human beings in our nation's history.

/i mean... assuming they've been paid ( ._.)

Well, there's probably a better chance of them getting paid if he's in office than not, because if nothing else the GOP would force the taxpayers to cover the tab. So voting against him with their dollars when he doesn't pay anyone else sends a signal.

But once he's out of office, they'll be a lot more work for them.  And he won't have the DOJ to defend him.  Those guys make that back in a day once he's out of office and the indictments start.

Trump uses lawyers to fark over contractors on the regular.

He also uses new lawyers to stiff his previous lawyers.

So infamous for this is Trump that a lot of lawyers refuse to deal with him one on one and demand a second lawyer present in meetings with Trump to be a witness for them in order to prevent themselves from being another one of Trump's victims.

So as funny as this is it is also makes nothing but sense.

FTA: "The figures reflect individual giving, not law firm contributions, and they rely on donors' self-identification by occupation and employer."

At this stage, how many people ( that have money ) donating to Trump are willing to admit to it.

I feel a bit bad about myself for booking the 3rd to the 5th off work (English here BTW) so that I can stay up to watch live if this all goes nightmarishly wrong.
I feel total sympathy for any decent, rational US citizen and hope things come to a peaceful and sane conclusion but the potential for massive Civil Unrest - or worse? - is undeniable at this stage.

It seems like the only hope for a totally peaceful Election is if Trump dies between now and then allowing his followers to mourn their loss and the GOP to sort itself out.

I Genuinely hope I am wrong and being overly paranoid about what the MAGA'ts might do :/

Hehe I feel bad as well.  I have been stocking up on alcohol and organising drugs.  Because I am where I am at (other side of the World) I am thnking of maybe taking things that let me stay awake for days. I am stocking up on the good snack foods, might go to the doctor to get get a shot of Vit-D, just because I am not likely to see the Sun for a couple of days.

If I understand this, the article is saying that Jones Day employees have only donated $50 to Trump's re-election campaign, according to public records.  But that doesn't preclude the possibility that they donated to various PACs and 527s, right?

/American campaign finance laws are dumb.

Your lawyers are just guys who took money to represent you in court. They don't have to like you

Okay unless a court ordered them to represent you for free or you are a charity case. They still don't have to like you.

It's unlikely that we'll have results by the 5th. He'll, it's unlikely we'll have results by the 17th.

Bank on November 26th, when the last state certified their results. Not to say the results won't be contested, just that there will be a nationwide confirmation of the results after several weeks from Election Day.
