biatch I do the dishes.  My wife is too busy working 90 hour pay periods dealing with sick people on the front lines.

HerptheDerp: Also, what the hell is Trump's bizarre obsession with water pressure? He's commented on toilet flows, shower pressure and now dishwashers. Like, what the hell is going on in that melon full of pudding that has him obsessing over home water usage? Is it because he spends so much time in the bathroom Tweeting one out that it's literally just his world now? A world of bile of toilets?

A guy who eats that many cheeseburgers and KFC apparently had some bad experiences with the early generation of low flow toilets. It was apparently traumatizing. It traumatizes me to think about his experience.

Gonzo317: Well at least it is consistent with the Make America Great Again message.  Which is all about taking the US back to the good old days of Mayberry, when the world was all white and women knew their place.

Fun fact: The Andy Griffith Show had black background characters and guest stars. Griffith wanted black regular characters, but the network was afraid that some southern affiliates wouldn't carry it. What they ended up with was a compromise.

I'll vote for Trump if he forces all those failing newspapers to go back to the ink that works with my Silly Putty.

Yes pleebs, I alone made it so you can waste more water while washing your dishes or flush Your toilet. Your local public service providers will like the extra money you're gonna pay them for these improvements, especially all you living in the West or other drought stricken areas....

A: Fark that butt nugget. Our dishwasher is a farking MACHINE, and it's not new enough to be made after his magical "proclamation".
B: Nobody came to my house and made any changes to the water there.

So I have the most amazing dishwasher I've seen outside of a commercial kitchen, and it's all Obama era stuff.

Yep, it takes FOREVER to get my brownies cooked over the LED bulb I'm using now...

2020-10-20 11:18:28 AM

xrayspx: I've never understood his "it takes 7 flushes now" argument and the light bulb thing about how LEDs suck and make him look weird and now we can have incandescents again.

Like, on what planet?  I've had two new toilets installed in the last decade, one of them in 2016.  They're fine.  I also had a case where I had one incandescent and one LED recessed can light on the same switch.  The only visible difference between them was that the LED took a split second to turn on.  That was nearly imperceptible.  LED lights are pretty danged awesome now and you can choose whatever color temp suits you.

This is George HW Bush levels of out of touch.  These are Trump's "guessing at the price of bread" moments and people aren't seeing it somehow?

It's part of his whole "grasping at straws to come up with reasons to hate environmentally-friendly things because they're left-wing" shtick he does.

edmo: I just replaced the TCO on our dishwasher so I'm getting a kick...

I'm not an expert though. Wouldn't a dishwasher have a pressure regulator? I mean, I'm no engineer, but those people seem to know how to set up a machine to do it's job across a range of possible utility setups.

Ehh, the reality is that it's never clear until years later how well these things work, because lawmakers tend to engage in wishful thinking.  That's why virtually everything in California now is labeled as containing chemicals that are known to the state of California to cause cancer.

Back in the 80's they introduced water-saving toilets that allow much less water through per flush.  But then people started flushing their toilets twice because they didn't work well... using more water... and complaining about them.

Expensive dishwashers that are designed to work on well water are going to do just fine regardless, whereas cheap ones need more water...that's probably not going to change overnight just because someone made a new rule, because most people don't want to spend $1000 on a new dishwasher when the one they have works.

montreal_medic: August11: For those of you visiting from nearby worldlines, this is the worldline where the US President talked incoherently about his making the nation's dishwashers function better with more water.

Doesn't a dishwasher fill the pan, then use the water, drain it, then refill?

Better pressure - at best would shorten fill time, which is a trivial part of the overall cycle time. Frankly, do more by upping the diameter of the feed hose

The joy in this story is that he doesn't understand women, dish washers or washing dishes.

And it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that he's never actually cleaned any cutlery or crockery in his entire life.

What made America great was its superior water pressure. Now you've all installed low flow toilets and shower heads. That's why the world is laughing at you.

His bidet doesn't use enough pressure to satisfy him, so he assumes other appliances and fixtures have similar issues.

About a year ago I moved into a brand new house.  In the 12 months since I have not paid more than the minimum amount the water utility charges.  The dish washer is great.  It works better than the old one and is way more quiet.

Sexism aside. How many Trump voters actually have money to buy a new dishwasher that allegedly has some magic new standard of higher water usage in a design, production, retail cycle that is probably years. People don't even want this shiat, and you could always modify low flow or refurbish old.

That's the closest he has to an argument for groups who refuse to support him even after he made a big show of giving them what he thought they wanted (regardless of whether he actually gave them much). They should vote for him because they owe him.

The Trump campaign are whining about an alleged lack of "foreign policy" questions to be posed on Thursday. Clearly Trump wanted to take credit for the Israel-UAE accord (in which his real role was minimal), and the assassination of General Soleimani, and insist that if American Jews had any sense of gratitude he'd vote for him in return for what he supposedly did for "their" country.

Yeah it's just a bizarre hill to die on, toilets and light bulbs.  You see footage from the rallies where he's all "Four, Five, even SEVEN flushes" and the crowd's all "YEAHHHH!!!!"

Try Lowes:

Or Home Depot:

Even Amazon has them:

There's a few good sources.  Now, vote for me.

I've had one of those door to doors show up afterwards. We got ours from a local store. Not to sound like a spokesperson for them but it's 16 years old and still going strong. Some of the prior cleaners we had would barely last a year before self destructing.

History of every law-demanded Tech change ever:

Old Tech uses too much energy/water/ or is unsafe.

Government passes law.

New Tech is uses less energy/water or is safer, but costs more or is less desirable because doesn't work as well.

People complain, Republicans want to repeal law, Democrats don't.

Companies listen to complaints, create New Tech v.2, which uses less energy/water, costs go down, people who are smart embrace newer tech because it is better than the Old Tech it replaced.

Republicans pretend New Tech v.2 is just the same as New Tech, still try to repeal law.

Everyone thinks Republicans are stupidly out of touch because they can't recognize that New Tech v.2 is superior to Old Tech.

Rinse/Repeat forever.

Here's the deal, Trump experiences something once, and for him it never changes. Low flow toilets definitely used to suck, and that is when he encountered one. Either that, or he got that one from back when Ann Coulter was on his side, because that's been her rant for awhile now. With light bulbs, he's probably conflating CFL bulbs with LEDs. CFLs sucked major balls when they first came out, and they were never what you would call 'great'. Then they went the way of the dodo, to be replaced by LEDs, which were goddamn expensive at the beginning. So combine the poor light quality and color temp from the CFL bulbs with the high price point of the LED bulbs, and you have your boogey man.

Trump just doesn't update his points of reference, so if the toilet sucked 20 years ago, it must suck now. He has no grip on reality.
