I think the REAL question that we're all wondering is: who amidst the valiant commenters on here dislikes Bill Maher the most? Remember to show your work to be eligible for the trophy.

Both she and Kavanaugh should be impeached since it can be easily established that they lied to the Senate. I don't see the Democrats having the stones for it though.

Also this Bill Mahar guy is a real firebrand. He could make a career out of being politically incorrect. What a devil may care attitude. The guy is white hot. I'll be keeping an eye on him.

Has no one tried corrupting her husband with an underage babysitter?!

DO I HAVE TO THINK OF EVERYTHING MYSELF?!

I'm about 50/50 on Maher, but I do tend to agree with him about religion, particularly christianity.  christians are the greatest threat to America.  Just look at what their fat, orange messiah is doing in the White House.

100% of the issues facing America today is caused by christians.

I disagree with you on this. She's going to get put on the Supreme Court no matter what. Yes, she is a religious nutter but going after that will lead to a whole bunch of Republican talking points about how Democrats hate Christians in order to drive their voters to the polls. Instead the Democrats need to hold up some of her more atrocious decisions like the black man that she claimed didn't have a hostile work environment even though his supervisor was calling him the N-word to his face or the woman who was repeatedly raped in jail but was told that she couldn't sue the county because rape wasn't in the job description of the county employee doing the raping.

She was on the Seventh Circuit. The Seventh Circuit is kind of garbage on this issue. I used to do civil rights employment cases there. I once saw an appellate argument where the defendant's attorney had to correct the record because "the defendant didn't rub his testicles in the plaintiff's face, he only waved them in her face" and later had to concede that he rubbed his testicles on the plaintiff's keyboard. The Seventh Circuit upheld judgment in favor of the defendant because they didn't find his behavior to be severe or pervasive.

No, no he's not.

Attacking her because she belongs to fringe variant of Catholicism will look like, to the general public, that you are attacking her because she is Catholic, period, and there are way too many Catholics (and other Christians who might take offense as well) who vote to do that.

Like it or not, the vast majority of American voters are at least nominally Christian.

Jack Sabbath: Well, she did overturn a ruling of damages on a rape case where a prison guard raped a female inmate, saying that since raping the prisoner wasn't part of his guard duties, there should be no payment.  And she said calling someone the N-word in a place of business does not constitute workplace harassment.

So even without religion, she is farking nuts.

That's the thing about Contagious that's so scary - her apparent obsession with digging out minutae as excuses to take away major elements people's rights or deny them justice.

And now thanks to the Russpublican traitors, this psycho is going to be installed in the corrupted scotus for life.

That isn't a reason not to bring it up.  If they're not hearing what you're saying then you need to keep saying it until they get it.

If you think a person's religious beliefs are off the table when choosing your leaders, then you deserve to have people making decisions about the environment who believe that everything's fine and God won't destroy the Earth because he promised Noah with a rainbow and everything.  The problem with that is, the rest of the world has to live with those consequences too, and all because you're too timid to make religion an issue.

Agree, he definitely nearly lost me with his anti-vaxxer crapfest.

But pointing out that 7 out of 9 justices will be Catholic if Barrett is confirmed (when only 20% of Americans are Catholics) was a depressing eye-opener.  Why are Dark Age cultists even considered for a job in America.  We're suddenly closer to theocracy than before, thanks to the Federalist Society and the GOP.  There should be a swift and strong reaction against this Handmaid's bullshiat.

It wouldn't be "packing the court" -- it would be "balancing the court."

Agree that he's an anti-vaxxer jerkoff.  But he usually nails it on religion -- and certainly nailed it on this front.  She should not even be considered for any official position, much less one of the most powerful ones in the nation.  She's a theocratic nut case.

madgonad: I actually think that 50% plus one or the VP is too minimal for a lifetime appointment. This allows whoever is in power to put pretty much any dipshiat in. Raise the bar to 2/3 of the Senate for judicial appointments and you will never get extremists from EITHER side. You will only get moderate judges that are highly respected and competent.

We had that, until McConnell decided that Black Muslim Hitler gets zero judges because of partisan spite. He opened this can of worms.

As far as I'm concerned, stare decisis is for pussies. Democrats should actively filter candidates by asking if they'd overturn certain decisions.

Might makes right. That's the rule now. Either the GOP can lay back and enjoy it or they can support a general purge of the judiciary from all of the unqualified assholes Donald got in.

Bill Maher is a dumbass, why should Democrats make this into a fight against religion?  That's what will happen if they attempt to bring up her being a crazy Catholic.  Just stick to the face that she self identifies as a conservative, and regardless of her non-answers, we KNOW she's going to rule against affordable healthcare, and against abortion rights.

Um, because such would be guaranteed to fail, since you need 67 Senators to convict and remove?

I see value in impeaching frauds sitting in front of the highest levers of power in our government. It's ok if you don't.

The willfully-ignorant right-wing authoritarians couldn't hold their cruel subculture together with racism anymore, and stripping women of their rights became their new rallying cry.

Bill misses the mark- Catholics hate her, for being a fringe nut. She's the worst embodiment of "read the bible, it's a how-to manual" but misses the point that it isn't, because she picks and chooses the most oppressive parts to subscribe to.

If you've never seen this scene from The West Wing, it's appropriate:

Or, hear me out here, the public is already firmly on the Democrats side that the moral case for installing her is wrong and that they believe the Democrats are right that she will legislate in ways that are harmful to them and don't want her on the bench as a policy matter.

What does objecting to her religion do to impact the matter? Does it cost her any Republican votes? Or does it merely muddle the message because that is the exact fight that Republicans want and it soothes Maher's ego because Republicans have been attacking Maher saying he secretly speaks for the REAL reason Democrats oppose her?

Her fellow justices should start calling her a c*nt, even during arguments, since that kind of thing isn't considered hostile.

They'll bring down federal buildings with day-cares in them if we can't reintegrate them into society.
