The insane things are completely normal now. That headline represents something so sadistic.

Now ban the big oaf, too.

The NPR hourly newscaster (Korva Coleman) just said "That's not true" to Trump's recorded rally claim that we are "rounding the turn." Though it was more "That's. Not. True."
It was actually kind of refreshing. I mean, I'd expect to hear that from a discussion among the correspondents about a story, but that bluntness from a newscast is way overdue.

"Masks don't work so you should only have to wear them when you can't socially distance."

Wut?  Do they work or don't they?

You guys are looking at this the wrong way. Trump is killing the dumbest portion of the population.

When out and about, wear a respirator instead of a cloth mask. If you wear glasses already, you're good to go. If not, buy some fake ones as an eye shield.

I only say this because trying to gain compliance among these people is impossible and futile. Just protect yourself and don't wear yourself out trying to convince/protect the ones you care about. There's only so much one person can do.

My wife and I are in agreement with what needs to be done to stay safe, and that's all I care about right now.

This is all kinds of farked up. Social media companies are a cancer, so much that it is newsworthy on the rare occasions when they do the right thing.

2020-10-19 6:51:59 AM
I thought the official line was now "We support mask use. We've always supported mask use. Even when our dumbfark 'leader' has a gathering in the rose garden, or a rally, where he doesn't wear a mask and doesn't encourage anyone else to (and if he said/did anything different, that was just sarcasm. What he meant was...).

Wait... NPR is actually pushing back now? I stopped listening to them around the election because they'd repeatedly let Trump people state blatant falsehoods and not even push back a little.

Condoms don't work, you should practice abstinence until marriage. Also if you can't practice abstinence use a condom. Sounds like faith-based covid prevention not science-based

It is actually a lot easier than that.  One study showed that in a medical environment with trained professionals utilizing masks 95% of the time there was still a 30% infection rate.

215,000 dead Americans, and we're still dealing with deliberate misinformation and outright lies from this abominable administration regarding COVID-19. Every member of Trump's team is happily feeding the obnoxiously stupid base, that's clearly taken the "until death do we part" Trump pledge.

And while that base continues to wallow in their self inflicted ignorance and financial misery, tomorrow I'll be voting for them to keep their healthcare and the many freedoms and privileges they're allowed as American citizens.

If you are staying properly distanced from others then technically they will have no effect, much as condoms have no effect if you are celibate.

The White House has other government funded means to tell us things.

Twitter is the government now? Does that mean we get an unredacted Mueller report?

If he wants to spread his dangerous misinformation that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, hospitalized hundreds of thousands more, and destroyed the American Economy, he can use another platform. Twitter isn't obligated to help him destroy America.

Mask are not 100% effective. The law of unintended consequences though does some great things. By wearing a mask you have a physical reminder to do other effective countermeasures like, not touching your face, backing up from other people especially plague vectors that refuse to wear a mask, and limit your time in and around people because the masks ARE an inconvenience. A side effect I have noticed, since my job does require me to be around many people from time to time and I have to wear a mask along with the people I interact with, I haven't had even a sniffle or any other cold symptoms since April. Minor pain in the ass that MIGHT save someone's life AND the added benefit of not having a leaky face from some sort of rhino virus crud....WORTH IT! So wear a mask, encourage others, and stop being a pedantic twit.

You and he both seem to miss the fact that six feet is enough distance to show everything down with masks on.  It's much, much farther without masks.

In fact, "properly socially distanced"without make really means a lockdown.  Do you support a complete lockdown instead of masks?

My co-worker is a Trump supporter. Tells highly and I mean HIGHLY racist jokes that fall flat in the meetings. Won't wear a mask. Tells everyone if they aren't voting for Trump, stay home. Covid is not real. Biggest mouth.

The MF'er and his wife just tested positive but as of Saturday were not showing signs of the virus, so they think it's a false positive. They get retested Wednesday. Wife was exposed at her work.

/I wear an KN-95 mask at work and I am the only one who does and the lone Democrat and Biden supporter.

It's going to be great theatre watching such a racist and Trump supporter go down in flames. Sucks that he and his wife tested positive.

Thinking I may now need to be tested because of this selfish ass.

Can't stand Trump. I think he's a horrid, morally bankrupt person -who has PT Barnumed a massive portion of our vapid population- and is exceedingly unqualified to be president. However, blocking this post without context was a big mistake by Twitter and FB. It would be best if they would come up with a flagging system that highlights such posts with a note that says "this message may contradict widely-cited scientific research and should not be construed as factual", with a link to peer based research sites like Pubmed or something along those lines.
Outright censorship however well-intended, is dangerous, and in this case will only serve to further strengthen the resolve of Trump voters.

When corporations censor free speech and ban news outlets on the behalf of government it is the same as the government doing it.  Progs and their cohorts need to be held to account.  Because of this shiat I can never vote Dem until they purge their tent of the so-called-progressives.

It won't kill enough of them to affect any practical outcomes.

If it's the same people who obstruct access to abortion and practice faith-based birth control, their increased fertility can easily outrun the virus.

And even if you were right, I don't think we want to wait a few generations to get a new, improved population of people to live with.

This problem has to be solved at the level of ideas, not biological evolution.

So even if somewhere way down the line masks are proven not to be as effective as thought, why risk it?  It's not a hard or difficult thing to do and it obviously can contain transmissions at some level. Mask up when you go out, don't go out if you don't feel well and disinfect. It's not complicated!

Hmm.  I would oppose a general mandate requiring that I wear a condom every time I leave the house.  I'd have to keep fiddling with it to keep it from falling off, and even on my sunnier days I'm not that optimistic.  It would be better to just put one on should conditions warrant its use.
