(The New York Times)   You may not recognize his name, but you've seen his typefaces and logo work, most recently in Netflix's Stranger Things. RIP Ed Benguiat, age 92   (nytimes.com) divider line

He sought the serif, but he did not stroke the density.

He sought the serif, but he swore it was in openface.

I met him briefly once back in the 70s at some type convention in New York. I've been using his typefaces for decades. RIP!

Oh, and for any other nerds and or geeks. Is a typeface a STEM topic? How is designing a font any different than designing a game, which has been told to go to Fandom?

Instead of splitting the geek tab into stem and fandom, should've axed the politics tab into "Twitter stories about Trump" and "Everything Else"

The man was prolific in his career. I really doubt there will be artists/designers like Ed Benguait or Saul Bass again who's careers span such a long period of time and have such a large impact on future artists/designers.

Ed was 100% correct that you may have a fancy expensive computer but if you don't have an eye for design it's useless.

RIP Type Man
