Being white in GA does reduce a person's chances of being killed by police by about a factor of 10 as well. Until racist cheating republicans are kicked out of office it will not get better.

True pretty much everywhere.  My family was discussing voting and my sister who lives in Pittsburgh is doing it by mail.

She was surprised I was going in person.  But why shouldn't I?  I won't wait in line more than 5 minutes and know my vote will be counted.  I live in an R+40 district- no way will any delay or shenanigans be tolerated

In Florida, the supervisor of elections is directly elected by the people.
His budget is set by the County commission, who are also directly elected by the people.
There are majority black counties in Georgia, are there not? Does the wait time for people in black neighborhoods improve in that case?

If somehow we ever get a Democrat Majority again, there needs to be a Constitutional amendment that says "States must provide xx polling stations to xx amount of registered voters in that district, and they must be located in even distribution among those voters with respect to accessible areas".

Once the line started moving yesterday, the process took me about 25 minutes. I was about 30th in line when the poll opened. It's in a transitional area, mixture of white, black, and Latino folks in line. One thing I noticed that (I think) was different from the summer primary: The ballot that prints out with the QR code had the printed-out choices on the page. Of course, I can't read the QR code.

They had plenty of poll workers, also a mixture, and several younger people than I am used to seeing. About 40 voting machines and two scanners.

I've heard that the poll up in Brookhaven only takes 7 minutes for early voting so that's where we're going.  Brookhaven used to not even be a place. It was just old factories and Mexican neighborhoods northeast of Buckhead.  Now people pay a lot to live there.

They probably can't manage an amendment, but there need to be many laws regarding polling stations, early voting, eliminating Voter ID laws, and absentee voting.

If you compare poll booths and fast food places it really puts how hard some parties have been working to gum up the works.

You can get a bucket of chicken, salads, fries, drinks in under 5 minutes but it takes hours to get you in front of a paper where you put an X (or touch a Windows XP based screen whathaveyou)

"All cities can only have one district that is both within and beyond the city limits"

Restricting what people can do is better than trying to choose good people when so many want to choose bad people.

My city should have 7.5 State House Districts, but there are only 5 completely in the city, with 5 districts that take different small chunks and put them with 5 different rural areas.

Waited over an hour in Fort Worth on Friday. White, mostly white neighborhood. I have a good feeling about this.

Rather than trust the mail I took my absentee ballot to an early voting location. I skipped the line, dropped off my envelope, and grabbed my sticker. In and out - about 15 seconds.

Hey, I'm white and I voted I Georgia this week. It took me an hour.

/voted in majority black county (Dekalb)
//voted in mostly white northern half of county (Tucker)
///Even my hour wait was better than South Dekalb's 5-6 hour waits on the same day.

No, because while a local election supervisor may be sympathetic, all resources are allocated by the Sec of State

Here's a couple numbers to make things sound slightly more hopeful: African-Americans comprise 31.5% of the population and, according to U.S. Elections Early Georgia Voting Statistics, they comprise 30.9% of votes already cast.

So on election day I know you have a specific polling location you are required to go to. But can you go anywhere during Early Voting? I mean, I voted at the election commission.

If you can go anywhere, black folks could go to the white polling locations.

GA here.  It varies from county to county as well.  A coworker in a northern county near tennessee has one ballot locale for whole county.

Fulton county (has part of Atlanta in it) has dozens all over with apps and dashboards showing average wait times for each location.  People are even learning that you can vote at any fulton county location, doesn't have to be your own.  It is nice to see people learn how to distribute themselves about to lessen wait times all-over.

I am aiming for a quiet 10:30am time on a Tuesday or Thursday this week to vote.

Voted yesterday.  In a predominately non-white area.  They are in open rebellion-- by voting.  I don't really see the line getting any shorter just because people are determined to vote.

The charts fails to show over 20% of the US identify as atheists. Unaffiliated gives the appearance of someone believing in some sort magical sky being. The US has elected several atheists and will elect an open atheist in the near future.  identifying as a Humanist  is still an atheist.
