You also need a marriage license before you can get married. You both have to be present and sign paperwork. in Nv I believe they are valid for 1 year after its issued.

So yeah.

Whatever gets the views, I guess. It's a brave new world. Maybe one day we'll figure out monetizing jack-assery isn't the smartest thing in the world. Until then, have you guys seen my "Guy totally loses it at a McDonald's drive-thru" video? It's a real doozie.

Since the story didn't follow up, I'll tell you what (I imagined) happened:

Once they got outside, the fiancé threw a right hook into the pastor, meant to be a distraction for him to jump into his car, but the bride caught up, and jumped onto the hood, gripping his windshield wipers as he tore out of the parking lot, and in the process, running over the unfortunate bridesmaid. The bride remains on the hood, even as the fiancé entered the interstate... traveling at speeds in excess of 130mph, he attempted to get her loose by working his wipers, but it was not until he hit the spike strips (by this time, across three counties and 5 police agencies were involved) and got PITted that she finally released her grip and went flying. The fiance wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown from the vehicle as it plunged into a concrete divider, and though he was not killed, it looks as if he will be a vegetable for the rest of his life. The bride rolled away, suffering horrific injuries, including half of the skin on her face being peeled off, and a paralyzing spine injury.

The pastor caught up in time to perform the ceremony in the ambulance. So, good ending overall.

Sounds like a Florida wedding.

A comforting story from an Austin TV station (chain) about a tiktok wedding in Las Vegas.    Nexstar claims to be bigger than Sinclair, TEGNA, Tribune.

A smart person could just make four channels, one for each corporation.  The "local" flavor could be done in their Virginia, Dallas, Chicago, whatever main studio, using a small group of actors and quick sets.

Just like radio chains.

Any real emergency -- tornado, hurricane, fire, gas pipe line explosion can be handled by text messages on the phone (unless the towers go down)  -- so there's no responsibility on the part of FCC license holders.

Given the circumstances, you're right, it could have been way worse for the groom.

I absolutely believe someone would do this.

What breaks my immersion is that they expect me to believe they got a pastor to go along with it.

If my girlfriend ever showed up at my workplace demanding to get married, my wife would have a fit.

2020-10-18 11:56:08 AM
Yeah, no.

No way.

There is no way I'm getting ambushed and forced into marriage, on the bride's whim.

If there's a problem, that chit needs to be sorted out and getting married ahead of THAT is just dooming.

And finally, if that's how SHE is, then get the fark out boy, run as the headline directs.

Probably a friend. A couple of bucks and a few minutes online and anyone can be a "pastor".

Doesn't prevent the paperwork. We had an old friend of ours marry us - we still had to get a license at least 3 days before the ceremony (we did so a couple of weeks in advance), and we had to have him, ourselves, and two other friends sign the paperwork after the ceremony to codify the marriage. We were married in 2000.

This is utter bullshiat, at least if they attempted to do so in Washington. Your state's requirements may vary, but, I suspect, not by much.

Too tired for bullshiat this morning.

I wish it would end happily ever after. mister works retail can't afford a car that will do 130MPH.

Totally real, totally.

That being said, if the ring has been on my finger for two years it's time to pick a date.  If not, I'm out - and I'm certainly not showing up with a Rabbi, a bridesmaid, a wedding band and a chuppah.

I think of my self as having been married 3 times. I've been in one LTR after another over the last 25+ years.

I don't actually know why.

You should contact the folks who made the video and offer your services as producer of their next video.

20 years ago college class whether it was drama or sociology were sending kids out to make scenes in public, to gauge people's reactions.  then came flash mobs.  this Tik Tok stuff seems pretty needy, but also like a natural evolution.  i wonder what will be next?  catfishing filmed for public consumption might be a logical next step.
