Hey all.
Anyone up yet?

2020-10-18 8:04:12 AM
I've been up for a long time, forgot to check in because the early games aren't streaming anywhere but Peacock here.

I'm also watching the WSL game between West Ham and Man Utd. I was very confused at first by the strips, took me a while to figure it out... My first clue was when the commentator kept referring to the team in grey as "Utd": I mean technically, yes, they are "West Ham United" but "Utd" by itself is always Man Utd...

And then I figure it out.

PK & Mitrovic skims it off the top of the bar

They never seem to have the WSL on here for some reason. Real pity.
I don't even know if there are any dodgy streaming sites with links to the games

I just woke up myself.

You have my empathy. My sleep pattern these days seems to be 9pm to 3am, and 10am to 12pm.

I will be forever grateful for getting to live in London for 3 years and generating my interest in the EPL. No horses in this years race as my favorite team got relegated, Watford, as it was closest to my house. Another team I followed closely was Wycombe, who are finding out how big of a step up it is from League 1 to Championship. Going to be a quick exit back to League 2 for them.

2020-10-18 8:25:45 AM
And I see this match is going to drive my GD even deeper into the negatives, since neither team seems to be that interested in doing this little thing known as scoring goals.

They spend whole games letting the opposition have the ball & then try to break when they lose it.

It ended with a dead fish thud, but Summer 2018 it was pretty cool to see Man U* play at Cardinals Stadium.  We were 2nd row off the field, fantastic seats.  So cool to to see The Special One in the flesh, walking the touchline.

*this was about 3 weeks after the WC ended, so Man U sent the backups as the starting squad.  No Pogba, they held out the GK, they truly treated it as an exhibibion.  the only guys I remember were Mata and Martial.

rickythepenguin: It ended with a dead fish thud, but Summer 2018 it was pretty cool to see Man U* play at Cardinals Stadium.

My favorite live sports memory is still getting to watch Raul live. Sure, it was with the New York Cosmos a few months before he retired, but still a treat.

the game was somewhat unremarkable, they played Mexican team Cruz Azul.  ended in a draw and i think CA got a dodgy PK to equalize.  But still cool

the whole time i was like, "Man freaking U is playing in Cardinals Stadium.  Who woulda thought?"

/local news that night, slow news day, it was the lead story.  they interviewed people that drove down from Denver, flew in from Vegas, road tripped from LA, "I've been a Man U fan all my life but i've never gotten to see them live, this is incredible, we drove 13 hours to see this...."

Spurs played LA a few years back, for a warmup tour.  I wantd to go but.....I'll just keep savign my nickels for a trip to WHL someday.  ( went to old WHL in 2005 and saw a mtch v Fulham.)

Well, I was always taught that both feet should be planted on the ground for throw ins. You weren't even supposed to have a heel off the ground.

The rule has always been both feet must be on the ground for a legal throw. I don't know if there's been a change to allow a part of the foot to be up, but they should have some contact with the pitch.

I've been a soccer Referee at the youth level for going on 30 years.  It has always been the rule that some part of both feet must be on the ground either on or behind the touch line.  The only time I ever call an illegal throw in is if it's blatant that one or both feet are off the ground.

From my experience coaches teach younger players to plant their feet because they have a tendency to jump when they throw the ball in.  It's at about U12 that they are taught to drag their back foot to get more velocity on their throw.

it's a beautiful city as well, visited as part of a tour around the southern Med a few years ago and I much preferred it to Barcelona.

Our bus tour of the city was amusing cause the coach that turned up to take us was the Valencia team bus (it was high summer, so outside of the season). Had darkened windows, and so the locals assumed it was actually the team going somewhere so were all waving at it, pulling over to let us past, honking their horns etc...

They were not impressed when the doors opened and 50 or so british tourists climbed out.

Per the Liverpool game, that is definitely offside.

I really don't like Grealish.
Never trust anyone who can't even wear socks properly.

Sanchez's OG was not as impressive as Shaw's, but bonus points for being more detrimental to his team.

Send Jack Grealish off . He clearly has an issue with gravity

6 out of 8 so far this gameweek. A lot of bookies are grinning right now, as they don't have to make many payouts.

And now it is only 5 out of 8... and this one I called the right winner on (maybe).

What's kinda funny about the Goodison screwjob (as I'm calling it now) yesterday is that my gut feeling on the match when I woke up before the match was a 2-2 draw. But my betting luck as been so abysmal the last 2 weeks that I didn't put money on it.

Did someone replace the whole Villa team with body doubles during the summer?

Yes, that was a screwjob at Goodison Park, and that it still stands as is is a crime.

Ok... Aston Villa is now all alone in 2nd, 1 point behind Everton... the scriptwriter for 2020 is most definitely on hallucinogenics, and is nihilistic.

Villa with 4 straight wins to start the season for the first time since 1930.

A stolen goal saved them from relegation and now they're the best team in the league. What a sport.

Yeah, which is even scarier, as Everton is looking at them quite nervously, and Liverpool is wondering what to do about those upstarts up at the top of the table.

Erm, I think I might have picked up several perfects in the predictor this week. I'm 9 points clear...

I was barely behind yesterday morning.  I assume my preds were carnage and hot garbage.

I didn't even know I'd snuck up to near the top until I did my usual 30 seconds to phone in my preds.
