I hear so many people saying they don't think Biden has that much support because they don't see as many Biden signs as they see Trump signs.

When you blend in at work, they let their guard down and assume you're deplorable as well. I just smile and nod while biting my tongue in half. Someone needs to do a spoof of Undercover Boss but call it Deplorable Employees.

Lacquer thinner and microfiber towel.  Wipes right off, no matter how long it has been on there.  Works for tree sap as well.

I drove over the Lookout Mountain range about six weeks ago to Huntsville and Decatur, Alabama for work. Little pond of blue in Mentone - All Biden/Harris and Doug Jones signs. They can probably relate.

I'm sure they would be friendly, helpful and polite right up until the night they stand by watching as their unwanted neighbors are hustled by uniformed thugs into a vehicle and taken to a trailhead for transport to a "detainment facility" for eventual disposal.  Then they'll be friendly, helpful and polite to whoever ends up living in their former home, and will probably regale them with outrageous stories about the "commies" who used to live there.

We had someone keep ripping my wife's sign apart.
Neighbor down the way had theirs stolen a few times. They just keep buying another 2 Biden signs each time one gets lifted.
The neighbor across from them was fearful to put his Trump sign out.

Good news though, it's brought us together as a neighborhood and we all watch out for each other.

Take that 2020.

In 2012 my wife got an Obama / Biden sign to put in our yard. In 2016 she wanted to get a Clinton / Kaine sign but was afraid someone would ruin or take it - there are a lot of signs for Republicans on our street. This year I asked her if she wanted to get a Biden / Harris sign and she said she didn't want someone to vandalize our property, harass us, or shoot us. I asked if she was serious about the shooting part and she just shrugged and said, "I dunno, I guess so."  This is America now, and the reason why is clear.

This - This right here is a life I lived for 30+ years. I worked at a coal company and in big oil. It is literally a requirement to get ahead. I've spent my entire life blending in, an extremely liberal atheist putting up with evangelical republicans all around me before I finally, FINALLY moved. I have no explanation for why i didn't move when I turned 18 other than comfort and familiarity. I think you would find that many, many people hate their lives and play this blend-in game and never become their true selves. And this is just religion and politics - I cannot imagine what someone Gay or Trans feels which, to be blunt, is a feeling of empathy that most republican evangelicals I've met are absolutely unable to grasp.

When I was in my pre-teen's... 4th/5th grade in the early 90's, I discovered a punk section at a local owned music shop and I saw this album and it's the first one I ever remember buying with my own money. I remember because I rode my bike back to the store to get it because I didn't want my mom to see it. At that age I had experienced some pretty horrific treatment in southern baptist churches because I asked "why" constantly, and I already knew I didn't believe what they did. I had never heard of the band. I had never heard the music. But the album cover was the first time in my life I can recall seeing something and relating to it that strongly and viscerally.

I see it all the time around here.  I know they have the right to do it, but I think it would create a hostile work environment.   Because unless you've been using some blatantly discriminatory hiring practices, not all of your employees are going to be of one party.

I'm not scared, son. I'm old and wise and well armed. It's a survival technique for me & mine. We're on the same side. Painting a crosshair on yourself isn't brave. It's dumb. I'm more of an undercover saboteur type guy that can blend in. A spy, if you will. Are spies cool this week?

It's weird to me that Trumpists loudly screech about being a silent majority while proclaiming victory based on their own..."volume". Never once considering Biden may have support they can't see.

It's a shocking lack of awareness.

My anecdote:

I have a Biden sign in my front yard.  I'll be damned if hooligans like the ones in this article will stop me from displaying it.

And even in my semi-rural county, I've noticed a slight majority of signs are for Biden - maybe around 55%, which means a lot here in Red America.

However, several of the Trump signs are very large (the kind that require a truck to transport), so I guess that means the display of support evens out between the candidates.

It's EVERYWHERE in western WI. Every single construction/farming equipment/pick-your-overrepresented-by​-rednecks-profession business.


A number of years ago, a local ice cream shop put up a massive (seriously MASSIVE) sign for a republican (i think it might have been gov candidate?). I was surprised- I live in an extremely liberal area in an extremely democratic leaning state (MD). Like, why alienate your customers like that?
It wasn't like a "i support this person" sign, it was massive enough to be a "f u" sign.
Wasn't surprised to see it went out of business the following year.

There's a neighbor in my neighborhood who is so upset by my Biden/Harris and Intersectional Gay Pride flag that they've made two fraudulent claims to different government agencies about me in the past month. First was a call to CYS claiming I was letting my six year old son run around naked outside 🙄 and that I was endangering him by smoking my MEDICAL marijuana OUTSIDE; I guess they'd have preferred I clam baked him INSIDE the house.

Second was a BS claim that my chicken coop, which is at least 10-15' from the borders of anyone else's property and most certainly does NOT smell bad because I clean it regularly and care for my animals, and got us a visit from code enforcement. I have to let them back next week to inspect my shed.

My mom told me to take the signs down, because "no one has ever started riots over a Trump sign but the same can't be said of your Black Lives Matter sign." (*que disgusted face on her)

I'm at the point where I'm scared because some creep asshole in obviously just watching what we do but I'll be damned if I'm taking down my signs. I have to drive by every farking house with a Trump banner across their porch; they're not robbing me of MY right to free speech and I'll stand tall against these pathetic assaults on my freedom.

It will all be worth it if we vote this motherfarker out on November 3rd.

probably used a clay bar it. the paint does not stick well to clear coat they clay bar will usually get it off and not damage the clear coat. The easiest method is using gasoline but that is less than idea for the obvious reason and that it can damage the clear coat.

Up to a point, we certainly are. I even cut my hair at one point at the urging of a fiancée that didn't want my long hair in the pictures. One ex-wife and a lot of experience later, my locks are back and fabulous, and I make a good living playing music (barring this pandemic). I remember how trapped I felt, and I know how much happier my life is now. I feel bad that I bought into the "face the reality and grow up" mentality for as long as I did, seeing as I'm infinitely happier and making more money working fewer hours.

It would be a soulless existence for me to go back to that clean-cut fake af world again.

Given the paint color, I suspect a utility worker in her neighborhood would have lots of cans handy as part of their job. My sidewalk and yard were marked up with the same color a couple weeks ago to  indicate underground water, fios and electrical lines.

A new car has clear coat over the paint.  A good detailer can remove paint with a clay bar if they catch it in time. The cheap way is to hit it with a buffer and compound which removed clear coat.  You don't want that.

Acetone will take off spray paint without damaging most modern clear coats. Use sparingly. Test a patch first.

Political signs to show support have been used forever to show support (quick google for The US tags it from the 1820s), and there should be no fear of repercussions in practicing free speech.  Downplaying the significance here is being complacent with voter intimidation.

Depends on the type of paint they used and how long it's sat. If it's reacted chemically or not. But a little dollar store krylon isn't going to take much buffing to get off a newer car's paint job.

The payload of WHATABOUT in that post has to be on par with a nuclear blast.

I'm not so sure it is.  Running about and smashing shait because you're mad about policy seems not entirely unlike painting someones car.  Both are destroying stuff that isn't yours.


Let's explore the reasons behind these two examples.

1)  A person steals and vandalizes property because they disagree with who their victim supports for president.
2)  Someone vandalizes property because of frustration over law enforcement killing unarmed black people (mainly simply for being black) with impunity.

If you can't see the difference between the two, it's because you're allowing your bias to prevent you from doing so.

I agree with every single thing you said, and my comments were directed at exactly the people who have the privilege and desire to challenge those norms, being one of those people myself. I forced myself into that norm for about 14 years too long, and I did it because I was worried about the respect of people that didn't deserve mine in the first place - the kind that would judge you based on your hair length, for example.

As far as the comment that got me going on this rant, to hear what amounts to "conforming to peer pressure" being referred to as "being grown-up" is sickening to me. If you're doing that, you're no spy - you're a good German.

I'm not scared, son. I'm old and wise and well armed. It's a survival technique for me & mine. We're on the same side. Painting a crosshair on yourself isn't brave. It's dumb. I'm more of an undercover saboteur type guy that can blend in. A spy, if you will. Are spies cool this week?

I have a visceral reaction to someone that claims cutting their hair was somehow an act of bravery, and that being able to pass for a deplorable is somehow a admirable trait.

and "heaven" forbid you'd been been born with a skin tone or gender you couldn't choose to "pass" with and got fired, raped, murdered, or driven out of town.

or what if you had to hide the fact that you weren't "church goin' folk" -at the right church, of course- to prevent harassment and a "hostile" workplace -or neighborhood- protected class or no? and you couldn't "quit and just move away" because of economic, family, or health reasons?

yes, your corporate longhair is surely a mark that you are the bravest mofo who ever dared hold a job!

I appreciate your passion, and I'm quite aware of my privilege as a generic, middle-aged white guy. I watch other people of my demographic conform to to the norm for the exact reasons given by Exile, and it saddens me. The norm we are expected to fit is a part of the overall problem of a system that puts white/Christian/male/heterosexual/cisg​endered people at the top, with everyone else being a deviation.

Probably hair spray. No, seriously, the propellant in that takes off even sharpie. The trick only works on smooth finished surfaces, though. Thus why it does NOT work on concrete or natural wood.

This - This right here is a life I lived for 30+ years. I worked at a coal company and in big oil. It is literally a requirement to get ahead. I've spent my entire life blending in, an extremely liberal atheist putting up with evangelical republicans all around me before I finally, FINALLY moved. I have no explanation for why i didn't move when I turned 18 other than comfort and familiarity. I think you would find that many, many people hate their lives and play this blend-in game and never become their true selves. And this is just religion and politics - I cannot imagine what someone Gay or Trans feels which, to be blunt, is a feeling of empathy that most republican evangelicals I've met are absolutely unable to grasp.

When I was in my pre-teen's... 4th/5th grade in the early 90's, I discovered a punk section at a local owned music shop and I saw this album and it's the first one I ever remember buying with my own money. I remember because I rode my bike back to the store to get it because I didn't want my mom to see it. At that age I had experienced some pretty horrific treatment in southern baptist churches because I asked " ...


One of their best albums I think, if a bit drawn out. Got to set them play it in its entirety in 2018 at Punk in Drublic Richmond. Great show.

Smock Pot: All my political stickers are on a small file cabinet in my home. Cops are hard-line right and stickers tick their asshole meter. They can fark up your life any time they want. Not gonna poke that pig.


I've always thought all black folks should put blue lives matter stickers on their cars. Cops, at the very least, would be slightly less likely to murder them.

i'm guessing polishing compound. Essentially "sand" it out with a fine grit

Unscratchable_Itch: In 2012 my wife got an Obama / Biden sign to put in our yard. In 2016 she wanted to get a Clinton / Kaine sign but was afraid someone would ruin or take it - there are a lot of signs for Republicans on our street. This year I asked her if she wanted to get a Biden / Harris sign and she said she didn't want someone to vandalize our property, harass us, or shoot us. I asked if she was serious about the shooting part and she just shrugged and said, "I dunno, I guess so."  This is America now, and the reason why is clear.


The Republicans / domestic terrorists are winning.

Cythraul: If I were going to troll Trump supporters, I'd do it in a way that doesn't involve vandalism.  Like, go around town obscuring Trump signs with Biden signs.  Or appending "Dump" on the tops of Trump signs.


My neighborhood is recovering from a windstorm thay knocked down a bunch of trees recently. Someone drove around town and changed all the signs advertising "stump removal" so they read "Trump removal"
