I wonder how the Cardinals feel about trading Randy Arozarena and keeping Harrison Bader now.

Little disappointed that Joe Kelly's Twitter account has nothing on this, yet.

The Astros got over, they got soooooo over, not having to deal with opposing fans this season. Whenever the country gets back on her feet again the vitriol, whatever is left of it due to natural dissipation, will be a far cry from what it should have been.

So much this. The Astros* skated so much scrutiny due to all the Covid crap. I will, and shall always be in the camp of " Fark the Astros*"

Haha yes.

Rays should have finished them off a few days ago, but nonetheless, let's go Rays!

There would be nothing more 2020 than a Tampa/Atlanta World Series.

Ok, check that. A Tampa/Dallas Stanley Cup Final tops that.

But what if there's a Tampa/Buffalo Super Bowl?

Jesus, all of this Tampa is making my head hurt.

I was glad to see them out of contention for the "piece of metal." I really would have been disheartened  about baseball had they gone to or won the WS

Sweet taste of Astro defeat...The cheating scandal just reinvigorated my Astro hate.  Think it started with Biggio sticking out his padded elbow to het hit by pitches.

Astros could have used a little more boom in their bats.

The saddest, most pathetic thing about the whole thing is that the Astros and their fans somehow believed that winning the world series, with a 29-31 record in Covid year, would somehow "erase" the cheating scandal.

The whole city latched on to Correa's "What are they going to say now?" quote like it was some kind of healing mantra.

Houstonian here.  The Astros are dead to me until everyone involved in the cheating has been purged from the team (at least).

The important thing is that the Yankees remain the only team to have choked away a 3-0 lead.

Tampa teams seem to THRIVE in this bubble/empty stadium scenario. Makes them feel right at home I guess.

Aren't the Red Sox descendants of the original Cincinnati Red Stockings?

No. The Red Sox were founded in 1901 as an AL competitor to the Braves (then the Boston Red Stockings). When the Cincinnati Red Stockings were founded, the Braves had to go by the Red Caps.

No, the original Cincinnati Red Stockings folded. The manager and a couple players went to Boston as the core of a new team, the Boston Red Stockings in the NL. The Boston Red Stockings are the Atlanta Braves. A new Boston AL team, the Americans, was created and later renamed the Boston Red Sox after the Red Stockings (following Chicago's use of "Sox" for Stockings) and played alongside the (after a few short lived names) Braves until the Braves went to Milwauke.

A new Cincinatti team was later formed with the name Red Stockings (actually there were multiple teams with that name, but the rest folded) and shortly after they shortened the name to "Reds"

I feel for you guys - the non-apologist fans/former fans. I'd be crazy bummed if I found out the Cubs did something like this in 2016.

dywed88: A new Cincinatti team was later formed with the name Red Stockings (actually there were multiple teams with that name, but the rest folded) and shortly after they shortened the name to "Reds"

Correct. There was the non-league originals, then none in the National Association, then two one year teams in the NL (both, IIRC, canned because they wouldn't stop selling beer on Sundays), then the American Association Red Stockings, which became the modern Cincinnati Reds. Boston were the Red Stockings in the NA, the Red Caps until 1882, the Beaneaters til 1906, Doves for 3 years, Rustlers in 1911, Bees from 1936-40, and the rest have been Braves, so named because their owner, James Gaffney, was a Tammany Hall "brave."

Bottom line, the Atlanta Braves have more of a connection to the original Cincinnati Red Stockings than the modern Cincinnati Reds.

Remember to observe a moment of silence on Thursday, when we mark 19 years since the Mariners played a post-season game.

I first heard about this story in a one-sentence radio spot when I hadn't slept well and was, for several minutes, so confused. They stole signs? Like, the ones the advertisers put around the ball field? It finally clicked and I realized I needed some caffeine or a nap.
