Ballots showed up a day late here but the whole fam filled voted in time for me to drop them into the official county collection box on the way to get Friday night curbside pickup takeout dinner.

Again: Election Day started two weeks ago, and will last another two weeks. This is why there's no October Surprise; they can't release "shocking" news every day for a month.

// E.g., releasing shocking news that Hunter would leave a laptop with a blind computer repair guy and never get around to picking it up.

Good.  Democrats can and need to turn state houses, even in states that they might lose to Trump.  Democrats having actual power in a state, makes it vastly harder for Republicans to pull off their voter suppression bullshiat, and will make them more likely to go blue in future elections.  This is going on right now in TX, where Dems have a real chance to take enough state seats, even if it eventually goes Red.

Sure, 22m sounds like a lot, but...

80% of Biden supporters plan to vote early or by mail, and Biden needs 70+ million votes to win.

Meanwhile, about a third of those 22m are Trump voters (half of them said they'd vote early or by mail).

So we really need to see the number of early voters & mail in ballots go over 100 million.

Not surprised, after four years of dealing with that horror show Americans can finally do something about it.

So let's say Biden wins, do those red hats disappear in shame? Does anyone have a read on what it'll be like for ex-Trumpers?

Probably a lot like after W. After 4 years of screeching about respecting the office, they'll promptly denigrate Biden at every turn for mostly imaginary issues.

I think they will treat him like a brother-in-law they owe money to. They will hem and haw and tell themselves "he was still better than Hillary" and will complete ignore their former-undying alligience. "Donnie One -Term" will quickly be forgotten. He'll be the guy that guy who lost to Taxbongo's second string. Nobody likes a loser. Trump convinced losers that he was not one of them. He was THEIR king... and not a loser. Nobody likes a loser.

To be fair, there is a question about how many of those votes will get counted, or even make it to even be in the running to be counted. The USPS and a states are really having a field day with election interference.

Doesn't matter. The vote-counters are Democratic in PA/MI/WI. If Trump loses one of those he's pretty much toast. Especially if trhat one is PA.

Saw something on this earlier.

Stat that jumped out at me was PA up 550%

Here that, ya GOP ratfarkers?

Not in Joe's backyard!

That noted, the overall trend is beyond encouraging, it is historically significant and a sign that a sea change is happening.

So... w00t!

I can only assume that Democrats are working behind the scenes on federal legislation to curtail voter suppression.  Mail-in voting needs to be a national thing all of the time and there's no good reason for it not to be--especially since it's both more secure and cheaper to run elections that way.  See, you can even get the "fiscal conservatives" on board!  (OK no you can't, because they're just racist liars, but at least you can make them squirm.)

Just did today.

Didn't bother looking up candidate positions.  I couldn't care less if it's a goddamned coconut crab running as a D.  Straight Democrat right down to the Commissioner of Pencil Sharpening.

If you're a Republican, you're a farking traitor to the Republic itself and you should be thankful that the election safety valve is going to calm the legitimate rage the sane in our society feel.  This is going to be a blue beatdown of Old Testment proportions.

What scares me is that here in Maricopa County, we finally got a competent recorder, and that may all change because he has a (D) after his name.

The early numbers are nice. I'd feel better if 1. more of 'em were younger voters, 2. the early vote actually reaches a total greater than the total vote from 2016--which is not out of the question in a lot of these states, actually.

'Til then, it's all well and good to see the lines, but it's a nailbiter of a month nonetheless. Just way too much on the line.

Laws changed to allow more early voting and more people voted early.

This is not a surprise. Let's go ahead and start sucking one another's dicks, but hold off on drawing too many conclusions.

Is that there excuse for why a repair show would go through the computer to find emails?  To identify the owner?  As opposed to just ignoring it and focusing on actual work and charging the owner a late-pickup fee or something?

HotIgneous Intruder: When turnout is high, the fascists lose.

Which is why they're absolutely determined to pollute the zeitgeist with shiat, drag everything into the gutter and generally create such a noxious, toxic environment.

The only chance they have is to make otherwise reasonable, civic minded citizens give up in disgust and disengage.

Unfortunately, they very much appear to have overplayed it and their efforts are yielding heavy negative marginal returns - they are driving people to vote Democratic because we all want to be rid of them. That was the overwhelming takeaway from the only Presidential debate - Trump's bullshiat was absolutely repulsive to the undecideds across the nation and drove them straight into Biden's arms.

Here in Ohio we have republican everything at a state level. Fortunately we at least count early and mail votes as they are received. Got enough shiat with the one drop box per county.

February 2009 - The world's greatest political mystery is how George W Bush ever won a 2nd term, since apparently not only did nobody anywhere in America vote for him, none of them seem to even know who he is.

February 2021 - Donald who? Who's that? Trump? I never supported him, never, never...

If Trump loses, there WILL be violence from the right. And I mean violence against actual people, not just property (although there will likely be a shiatload of that, too; I'm sure there are some psychos making note of every house that has a Biden sign in the front yard).

No other President has done as much to intentionally rile up right-wing lunatics as much as Trump has. We've already had multiple mass shootings, both at home and abroad, explicitly inspired by his rantings, and he's only gotten more rabid over time.

His lunatic followers live in a reality where Donald Trump is actually hugely popular, where a functioning federal government that isn't beholden to a dictator is a sinister 'Deep State' bent on making Trump look like an incompetent asshole, where the press that doesn't kiss his ass with enough enthusiasm is the 'enemy of the people', and where everyone to the left of farking Mussolini is a pedophile that's harvesting a fictional drug from children. And they have a lot of guns.

Voted last Sunday at the mall. They set up a polling station in one of the empty stores. Took maybe 30 minutes, but one of the poll workers told me they had a 3 hour line the Saturday before.

Harris Co has to deal with the one drop box crap too.  But the Dems run the county so that one drop box is at NRG stadium (accessible by car, bus, or rail, which is as convenient as it gets inside Houston).  This may hamper voting by the people in the rural parts of the county who are more likely to be R.

/the Dems wanted 12
//and some of them would have been put out in the sticks
///we know who plays fair and who doesn't
