(Politico)   In what might be a first, Trump Administration pauses to determine whether their plan to bribe seniors with drug coupons is actually legal, instead of just plowing on and daring someone to stop them   (politico.com) divider line

Stalling the grif, trying to squeeze more juice.

Trump announced the plan in a speech on Sep. 24, promising that the "incredible" cards would be mailed to seniors in the "coming weeks,"

Yeah, I don't find that claim to be credible either.

And yet, I bet if you asked Trumpers, they would probably claim they already got their card.

I also just figured out a scam: Mail "Trump" cards out. Include "activation" instructions that require a credit card, debit card, or checking account info.

Trump is going to sue you for infringing on his first move after leaving office.

"What do you mean that I can't I can't personally profit from these coupons? Pull the brakes, boys, and let's figure this out. I want tax credits and fees going to my companies, or this whole thing is a wash. What's the status on my hotels being declared health care providers?"

This madness will either stop or accelerate dramatically in just a few weeks.  All we peasants can do is hold on and wait.

There's also a line of bullshiat. At most, the people that want to work in a future (non-Trump) administration are worried it might make them "unemployable" and unable to grift (or push their bullshiat agenda) one the future. Rats... sinking ship... et al.

Trump is trying to bribe people with their own money again?

Is the delay because the coupons don't have his ridiculous signature on it like last time?

They'll do it anyway, independent of the findings.

It's a desperate act which serves only to highlight how little Trump has actually done in the last 4 years. Only rusted on Trumpers will be fooled by it.

Not just election law, but how can you just draw that much money out of the Medicare fund without any Congressional approval?  Trump's administration really seems intent on demonstrating how meaningless Congressional appropriations are.  It's looking like the entire federal budget is completely fungible.

Yeah, they're stalling.

'We're definitely totally really going to send you these wonderful tremendous cards, but we just need you to do us a favor on November 3rd first.'

The health department's top lawyer is warning in an internal memo that President Donald Trump's plan to give seniors $200 discount cards to buy prescription drugs could violate election law, according to three officials with knowledge of those legal concerns.

"Health department's top lawyer decides he would like a career after current administration ends.  Issues memo to that effect."

How many seniors have already voted? With the post office being incompetent due to Trump, how many seniors won't even get those cards until election day or after?

In other words, they couldn't have them distributed before the election for a return on griftvestment

They see that shortly they may actually have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Somewhere, someone is not just immediately bowing to his will. At least, that is my impression.

Meh, this is just political infighting.

Important things to know:
Azar (hhs secretary) and seema verma (cms administrator) haye each other and have been trying to get the other fired
Azar is a former bush appointee
Azar is a drug company man
Verma is on pence's team
The political appointee who made this call reports to azar.
Pence took over the coronavirus task force from Azar, basically stating/implying that Azar screwed it up/was incompetent

So basically: it sounds like Azar is getting revenge on Trump/Pence/Verma and making nice with the drug companies(who already refused to do this card) and traditional Republicans (who would be against draining the medicare trust fund).

It's way too late ya Orange Blob. May as well commit to the con at this point, if you end up in jail it will be for crimes far worse than this that are already drawn up and waiting to be filed, one more won't make a difference.

Plus they'd probably be like those "gift cards" you can buy at stores that are Visa/Mastercard that have activation fees and other fees associated with it that somehow profit Dotard or his "friends" so the actual value would probably be $25 towards an Rx.

Well, when money is going to actual individual citizens, we must be very carful and double check everything because we don't want somebody getting something for nothing. That's received for corporate citizens.

Before they shut this crime down, could I get some Eliquis coupons?  That shiat is expensive even with insurance, but that's what you get with "The best healthcare system in the world."®

Welcome to the new America.  We don't make money off of building things, that's so mid-20th century.  We don't make money off of Services, that's so late 20th Century.  We don't make money off of technology, that's so early 21st Century.  We make money off of money, as in other people have it, we move it somewhere for them, and take a cut.  Notice how many ads for some form of insurance are out there now, or otherwise insurance related.  Dental insurance, car, home, life, auto repair even, etc.  A million ads for companies that purport to research and locate the best insurance deal for you.  A million ads for "wealth management".  Our economy is moving rapidly away from producing goods and services of value to just parasitically siphoning off a thin flow of the money current.

Don't forget all those "apps" and "start-ups" that are created to get bought or artificially inflated and then sold or fold...that's nothing but a cover for the transfer of wealth

When they do it, it's a bribe, when Democrats do it, it's economic fairness or social justice.

When G. Bush promised everybody 300 bucks (600 for families) and he borrowed that promise from the next year's taxes, did you think that was a bribe?  Why not?
