Also we'll be introducing a little thing called "scrip" instead of cash to replace your pay.  You'll be able to use it in our company store or to rent our company housing.  Long live the company!

If your layoffs would happen "late 2020" before the new president starts his term, your shaky-ass business is already doomed and/or you're a spiteful ass.

Either way, don't blame Biden.

TFA said $0.14. I remember seeing that and not much more in a headline and thinking, "Well good for Papa John speaking out in strong support of Obamacare!"

I actually used to get most of my pizza there - he eventually cured me of that.  You farkers with more sophisticated tastes may not realize that I think every single pizza I ordered from them came with a $5-$10 promo discount from their menu prices. They had a punchcard sort of program, were regulars in mailed and emailed coupons, and coupon aggregator sites usually had some even better deals (though those often had regional restrictions). Anyway, it was just amazing to hear him whine apocalyptically about the cost of healthcare for his employees while admitting that it was orders of magnitude less than their regular marketing costs.

Husband's company verbally says this every presidential election. I think they had a paper one once, but that may have lead to some legal issues. Last time Obama won like 3 people with Obama bumper stickers were fired, but wrongful termination suits are just this places thing. It was the only female engineer who was fired the day she informed HR of being pregnant that was possibly the least well thought out one. She totally won that lawsuit. He really needs to find a nontoxic office to work in. Really anyone who works at a place where management tells you how to vote or you could be fired should probably revaluate your employment options as they are probably screwing you over in multiple ways.

Nope, but here in Michigan:

This means that it is illegal for your employer, or anyone else, to buy your vote, or pay you to not vote.  It also means that your employer cannot fire or threaten to fire you to try to get you to vote a certain way.

Where my husband works several jobs should be done by one of the engineers or someone with years of experience. Instead they run a half a dozen techs and some kid who finished university a couple years ago to sign off on the work a babysit the revolving door of techs that make $12/hr and have a 50% turn over rate because really Walmart will pay you $10/hr to move carts around with no actual responsibilities and probably has better insurance. Capitalist Societies are never Republics, except perhaps in name. When the only people permitted to influence or create policy are the same people those policies would affect, the policies are written to have a positive effect on the policy makers. In this, money talks.

See American Banks, land speculators, property management companies and large manufacturers that are utterly dependent on foreign sources for their raw materials.

In the 1700s the vast majority of people could not vote for anything, even the 1%ers in Europe. It was just a strange thing people in the UK and some colonies did until the French started chopping off heads and dominating the continent. Even then, most people in the world still couldn't vote for anything. Elected government is fairly new.

Right to work refers to the requirement to join a union for a position.  At will is the term you are looking for.  And it's in every state except Montana.

A few states have protections for being fired for political affiliation, but there is no federal statute to prevent it.

Sadly in most areas it is legal. There are asshole employers who fire employees over having a political bumper sticker endorsing the wrong candidate. Any place with at-will employment either the employee or employer can end the relationship at will and for any reason unless there is a contract or is intentional discrimination against a protected class which is usually very hard to prove.

Nope, unless you're thinking "right-to-work" and "at-will employment" are the same things. At-will is pretty much in every state. "Right-to-work" is in (I think) roughly a third-to-half of the country and you can tell which states are right-to-work because their workers make less

The premise behind "Right-to-work" is that workers will somehow take advantage of the system to unfairly collect money under byzantine conditions and constraints, and by removing the checks and balances to ensure a fair working place, you somehow make it easier for people who want to work, but don't want to enjoy the protection of unions or regulations.

The problem is that:
1. The business owners exploit right-to-work in exactly the ways unions are meant to protect workers
2. It ignores that such exploitation by workers doesn't really occur in practice, because it is impractical and sustained application of such exploitation isn't sustainable anyway.
3. Did I mention the very evil unions and regulations are meant to protect workers from is perpetrated by the business owners?

I get that unions can be a problem. The way to get a handle on that is to regulate them in the same manner. This isn't rocket science. The government CAN keep the mob out of unions, and mostly has, and the "right-to-work" laws have had nothing to do with that success.

This is a stunning admission on the employer's part.

If their business cannot survive due to a few percentage points loss in orders or a few points increase in taxes, then it also follows:

They cannot survive a few points increase in labor costs, so the workers there cannot and should not expect raises or any additional benefits.

They cannot survive an increase in materials costs.

They cannot survive an increase in transportation costs to deliver needed materials or finished products.

All of these costs WILL go up, regardless of which party is in power.

Workers and investors should flee this sinking ship.  The captain has all but issued the order.

Perhaps they could switch to manufacturing bootstraps, and reserve the first production run for themselves?

1Did Honest President tell his workers that a stable economy under a sane Biden presidency might increase business?  That might happen as well.  Why did he only threaten their jobs with doom and gloom, when he could have boosted morale with a more positive scenario, one more likely to happen in the real world than what's playing out in his swampy noggin?  I don't think you should call him Honest President when he only tells half the truth, the half he's politically invested in.

2If libs loathed honesty, wouldn't they be supporting the candidate who's lied publicly, often about the most important national policies, over 25,000 times since being sworn in?

3Of course the media reported it.  It's a company president threatening the incomes of his workers if his political candidate isn't elected.  It's unethical and criminal.  Do you really think that the big 6 media companies are in the pocket of the DNC?  Do you think the DNC has that kind of power or money?   C'mon, just think about these idiotic talking points for a minute before you regurgitate them.

There was a study at about that time on the prices at Wal-Mart if the company raised all the hourly workers who made less than $15/hr up to $15.  Net result: a 69 cent box of Kraft Mac and Cheese would have to retail for 71 cents.  Two farking pennies.  The study also pointed out the increased revenue for Wal-Mart from employees who made as much as $6/hour more, who would naturally spend that money at their store.

Trump did nothing to save us, or the economy. But this Trump biatch drank so much of the Kool-Aid, he can't even admit that his Dear Leader farked up, and now his beloved company is just another 2020 COVID casualty.

So let me give those soon to be fired employees a tip or two. Train for a new job! Go make endless visits, and spend endless hours at Job Services, doing mock interviews, tweaking your resumes, and signing up for Linked In, which doesn't do shiat for folks who are largely blue collar workers, anyway. Take your college degree, if you have one, and go work in call centers, as a delivery driver, or clean buildings, because jobs that pay $13 dollars or less are the only jobs Job Services can help you find!

Go back to school, and acquire endless certifications for jobs you can't even get a rejection letter from. Start typing in your resume info again, because even though you just uploaded your resume, the farking application still requires you to enter your goddamned resume data.

Throw away every chance you're ever had of retiring at 65, because the economy is shiat, and by the time us Gen Xers are eligible for retirement, it will only give us maybe 30 percent of our retirement income, as opposed to the farking "generous" 40 percent that SSI currently provides. Your taxpayer dollars at work, you stupid biatches. You probably spend more money on a weekend in Vegas, than you'll get every month in retirement income. Live it up while you can!

Oh, and don't count on a pension. A company can't give you money if they cease to exist! And you better pray that the muthafarkers who tend to your 401k ain't gonna pull a Bernie Madoff on your ass, and retire to Fiji on it.  Unless it's under a fireproof mattress, trusting brokerage or investment firms to watch your retirement savings is no guarantee you will have that money available to you when you need it. Diseases are expensive to treat. So between drinking bottled tap water, and eating fish with plastic in it, maybe you'll only get a mild case of heart disease, as opposed to the folks who lived in piss poor conditions, and ate pre- processed foods their entire adult lives.

In other words, suck it up, you privileged, clueless, naive, shortsighted, assholes, When shiat was going great for you, you didn't care that other people were starving. But now you'll know what that feels like. Next time, you'll vote for someone who actually knows what they're doing, instead of how good they looked on tv.

"The very employers and politicians and publishers who talk most loudly of class antagonism and the destruction of the American system now undermine that system by this attempt to coerce the votes of the wage earners of this country. It is the 1936 version of the old threat to close down the factory or the office if a particular candidate does not win. It is an old strategy of tyrants to delude their victims into fighting their battles for them. Every message in a pay envelope, even if it is the truth, is a command to vote according to the will of the employer. But this propaganda is worse - it is deceit."

This company's president should be in prison
Now

And in the 1700s he would have been horsewhipped in public.

In the 1700s most of his employees would have been slaves. Only white males could vote, and since there was no secret ballot, their employers would know who they voted for.

What country are you from?

Counterpoint, Florida wasn't part of the union in the 1700s. It became a state in 1845 and was sparsely populated until the invention of AC and people realized it was a nice place to retire in. Hence the unofficial name "God's waiting room."

/From Florida.

Spanish Florida also had slavery. And snowbirds notwithstanding, Jim Crow lived to a ripe old age in the sunshine state.

/ from Lake County, no worries Bubba

It is illegal to fire someone for the mere reason you don't approve of who they voted for. It is illegal to coerce them to vote for the candidate you approve of. It is illegal to reimburse people for their contributions to a campaign. It is illegal to require a certain political ideology as a condition of employment with your business.

You want to know, how I know that you've never owned a business?

Yeah, we know why you're a Trump cultist, Mr. President of your shiatty company. The oldest reason in the book: greed. Biden mentions tax increases for those making over $400k, and that's all you need to hear. Strike one, Biden's out.

Fark you and your ilk. You had your four years of selling the country down the toilet, all so you could become a little richer. Now GFY and STFU.

I wouldn't be surprised if his parents or grandparents started it.
