Inherited money, just like Trump.

A former job I had was working with Bob Brockman. Same with him. He inherited his daddy's money.

I hear Bob's having a bad month.

Papa John's CEO Says 'Obamacare' Will Up Pizza Price

"best" part of that, besides forever, is that it would have raised the price of their shiatty pizza by like $.25 a pie. A farking quarter is too much for Papa John to ensure his employees are cared for.  And that makes me wonder what he does when the price of cheese, flour, pepperoni etc goes up

I believe it was 15 cents/pie.

A better world for $0.15?
LIBRUL SOSHULISMS KURBLAHH

TFA said $0.14. I remember seeing that and not much more in a headline and thinking, "Well good for Papa John speaking out in strong support of Obamacare!"

I actually used to get most of my pizza there - he eventually cured me of that.  You farkers with more sophisticated tastes may not realize that I think every single pizza I ordered from them came with a $5-$10 promo discount from their menu prices. They had a punchcard sort of program, were regulars in mailed and emailed coupons, and coupon aggregator sites usually had some even better deals (though those often had regional restrictions). Anyway, it was just amazing to hear him whine apocalyptically about the cost of healthcare for his employees while admitting that it was orders of magnitude less than their regular marketing costs.

Yep.

Wife and I used to be regulars. We'd get a Monday night pizza deal. Every week.

We got fat.

When he crapped all over obamacare, we never set foot in a Papa Johns again.

A farking quarter!!!

There was a study at about that time on the prices at Wal-Mart if the company raised all the hourly workers who made less than $15/hr up to $15.  Net result: a 69 cent box of Kraft Mac and Cheese would have to retail for 71 cents.  Two farking pennies.  The study also pointed out the increased revenue for Wal-Mart from employees who made as much as $6/hour more, who would naturally spend that money at their store.

NihilismKat: I want that sauce Morty!: I'm going to bet this place pays somewhere around $10/hr and has the bare minimum of what's required under Obamacare.

Where my husband works several jobs should be done by one of the engineers or someone with years of experience. Instead they run a half a dozen techs and some kid who finished university a couple years ago to sign off on the work a babysit the revolving door of techs that make $12/hr and have a 50% turn over rate because really Walmart will pay you $10/hr to move carts around with no actual responsibilities and probably has better insurance. The only bonus to this place is no drug test and they don't ask about your criminal record. Hell, they recruit at the local prison job fair. There are more neck tattoos than a biker bar, and that's really why they can fark with people because where else are you going to work?
No I don't know why he's so attached to the place. Stockholm syndrome probably.

Sounds like he works for Brockman. Seriously.

Political affiliation is not a protected class.

Better to just update your resume and find an exit now than to work for such a giant asshole. Then, when all his employees (or even half) quit, and he goes under then he'll be left crying or trying to hire illegals (then report him to authorities).

During the 2012 United States elections, Siegel caused controversy and public debate when he sent a mass email to his employees, suggesting that they vote for Republican Party candidate Mitt Romney or he might have to take drastic measures in how he operated the company (including cutting back on his company's workforce).[17][18] In January 2015, it was noted that his company had experienced "the best year in our history" and he raised his company's minimum wage to $10 per hour.[19]

Voter intimidation.

It's not illegal. At all.

It's just profoundly shiatty. And bad for business.

He'll pay in myriad other ways, difficult to measure & hard to put his finger on. Why the hell is turnover so high? Why do all my best guys up & leave for my competitors? Why am I less productive with the same staffing? What the hell's going on?

Was working for Lowe's in '04.  Store regularly did over $1 MEEELyun/per wk sales.  Store manager shuts down the store one afternoon for an hour to have a mandatory meeting with all employees, where he told us about how great W was and how dangerous it would be to the economy if Kerry won.  Heard a lot of grumbling from the other employees.  Did hear one $6.50/hr forklift driver defending the 1%.  He later quit to go sell service contracts at Circuit City, before they went out of business.

Another small-time 'prince of capitalism' who thinks he's sitting at the big boys' table.

Small business owners are the most insufferable group of people around this time of year.  No discipline or self-control.

Luckily, I don't work in an industry where I have to deal with this kind of shiat, but if you're stupid enough to threaten livelihoods because of an election, you'd be well advised to watch your back in your office parking lot.  It's basic Machiavelli.  If you fark with a man's property or income, you'll learn quickly just how vicious human beings can REALLY be to each other.

Go easy, little man.

If the boss says you lose your job if the Democrat wins, then you brag about voting for the Democrat, then you lose your job, it follows that you very likely lost your job for voting for the Democrat.  Democrats aren't a protected class, voting is a protected action.

"The very employers and politicians and publishers who talk most loudly of class antagonism and the destruction of the American system now undermine that system by this attempt to coerce the votes of the wage earners of this country. It is the 1936 version of the old threat to close down the factory or the office if a particular candidate does not win. It is an old strategy of tyrants to delude their victims into fighting their battles for them. Every message in a pay envelope, even if it is the truth, is a command to vote according to the will of the employer. But this propaganda is worse - it is deceit."

Now

And in the 1700s he would have been horsewhipped in public.

In the 1700s most of his employees would have been slaves. Only white males could vote, and since there was no secret ballot, their employers would know who they voted for.

What country are you from?

Counterpoint, Florida wasn't part of the union in the 1700s. It became a state in 1845 and was sparsely populated until the invention of AC and people realized it was a nice place to retire in. Hence the unofficial name "God's waiting room."

/From Florida.

Spanish Florida also had slavery. And snowbirds notwithstanding, Jim Crow lived to a ripe old age in the sunshine state.

It is illegal to fire someone for the mere reason you don't approve of who they voted for. It is illegal to coerce them to vote for the candidate you approve of. It is illegal to reimburse people for their contributions to a campaign. It is illegal to require a certain political ideology as a condition of employment with your business.

You want to know, how I know that you've never owned a business?

Yeah, we know why you're a Trump cultist, Mr. President of your shiatty company. The oldest reason in the book: greed. Biden mentions tax increases for those making over $400k, and that's all you need to hear. Strike one, Biden's out.
