Voting helps, but if the count is messed with, we're screwed.
You states know who I'm looking at.

High Democratic turnout assuming that's what happens, can also make a big difference flipping state house seats, in states that Trump ends up winning.

Don't.

Get out to vote and make sure you drag as many others with you as possible.

Even if Dems do manage to splash a blue wave over everybody's face, we have until January 20th, 2021 to watch it all go south. Maybe even beyond that, who knows.

/I'm almost with you but I have to quell all hope until enough has already been DONE before we can relax even the littlest bit

I gave $200 to the DCCC last night.
I think it will be my final donation this refund round. Unless money is needed for the legal fights that are sure to follow.
Remember next year to give to the local give thru ACTBLUE. They added important too.

YES.

It's census year. Turning statehouses blue so the enemies of democracy can't corrupt the district maps is a close second to electing Biden to the Presidency in terms of importance.

/You know they're going to quadruple down on gerrymandering

Democrats buy ads. Republicans buy votes (on credit). We're doomed.

The donor class is figuring out Trump's tax cuts aren't worth the poor economy, raging pandemic and loss of global influence he leaves in his wake.

Money can't vote just like it can't buy happiness.

But it does help smooth our the bumps.

So huzzah.

Biden volunteer called on Monday ... told me my donation would be tripled. I said I don't get paid until Friday. He said he'd call back.

He called back today. After long, funny conversation he told me the last guy donated $751 ... because it was more than Trump paid in taxes.

I couldn't go that high.

I tried $420 divided by 3 but wasn't satisfied. Tried $555 for Herman Cain. But that didn't work.

I settled on $222 so it would be tripled.

Oregon ballot arrived today. Said ballot submitted today. I've done my part to get rid of the orange turdblossom*, as well as voting against Republican or Republican-lite (namely Libertarian) on the Ballot. Which meant Democrat for the federal and most State races, and whichever candidates were the most progressive for the county and local races.

FWIW.

*sincere apologies to turdblossoms out there; I know it's unfair and overly cruel to be compared to Trump

MattytheMouse: Democrat's seemingly best strategy is sitting and waiting until everybody remembers how disastrous a republican presidency is.

They'd get a lot of traction if they, you know, actually reached out to the poor and marginalized and offered them specific policies to improve their lives that they actually plan to enact in the future.  It's insane that they seem incapable of doing this 90% of the time.

What the Republicans do is truly horrible, but I think for many people it remains sort of an abstract threat:  since their lives are already pretty miserable, cranking that misery from 7 to 8 doesn't seem like a big difference and they probably have trouble connecting it to any specific Republican actions, especially if they've been living under Republican rule for a while--for those people, it's just the way it is.  However, if the Democrats could promise to bring that misery down to 5, and explain how they'll do it, I think that'd go a long way.

And if they compared treatment across state lines, that might make a difference, too:  show them how much better a poor family has it in, say, California over Alabama, and connect that to Republican policy.  Or maybe that's too cerebral, I dunno.  But "if you don't vote for us the Republicans will get you" doesn't seem to be a winning strategy so far.

Gubbo: Money helps. But it doesn't vote.

Sure it does.  It always has.  Now every $1 counts more than a real vote does.  The science of graft advances relentlessly.

This was always the point.  That money isn't "oh, Lord, we're so sick of Trump" money.  Those people - you and I - don't have money to give to political campaigns... and if we did, we gave it to Bernie before they stole any chance from him , again.  Like Charlie Brown and Lucy with that damned football.

That money is from the 1%, and it's saying "We recognize that the GOP has set fire to enough infrastructure, real, financial, administrative and political, that you need to take power back for a little while & rebuild the far-right populist outrage.  Please do not do anything ludicrous like tax us, raise the minimum wage, adjust overtime exemption thresholds, or pass any regulation whatsoever that doesn't allow us to own, buy, or steal literally everything of value in the country. Thank you".

We're going to have to go after the Democrats harder than we've ever gone after the GOP.  The bigger they win, the harder it's going to be, because they'll shriek about their "mandate".  Mandate to continue raping us, just without the bragging about it on Twitter.

Here's a hint as to the difference

RNC "big money" =/= "The support for [Democrats'] campaigns among small-dollar contributors."

Except these are small-donor contributions, which are a matter of public record, not anonymous, mega-donations wherein a quid-pro-quo is expected.

I believe the word you're looking for is 'sophistry.'

The Republicans are no longer trying to win this race. They now have gone to plan B, which is to steal it.

Then farking do something with it. For all the handwringing about how bad Republicans are, how they use the rules to their benefit, how they're slowly gaining long-term control of the SCOTUS...

Stop your biatching, whining and punting responsibility to someone else. Win your House and Senate races. Win your downballot races. Take control of as many state legislatures as possible to control the post-census redistricting. Stop biatching that the other side has been better about using the rules to their advantage.

Big Money ≠ massive amount of small donors.

I don't think ads do a damned thing.  But a lot of these funds can be spent on GOTV and other such efforts which I DO think help at least a little.  To a lesser degree, I think these fundraising numbers can be interpreted as an indication of enthusiasm.

Bottom line:  It may not help a whole lot, but it sure isn't hurting.

Also let's not pretend there's any sort of reasonable equivalence between a campaign raising money directly from small donors, subject to individual limits and reporting requirements, and the anonymous big-money SuperPAC spending the GOP engages in.
