Pretty sure all the NY firefighters Donnie is screwing over will vote for him again.

This could REALLY swing NY to go blue this election year.

So, basically like anyone else the government withholds money from?

"The IRS seized my tax refund! I NEED THAT MONEY!"

Uh, but you owe it to them somewhere else...

When did Denis Leary turn into someone's aunt?

This abusive relationship tactic isn't really going to work for people.  Most people aren't this dumb.

Its blatantly obvious who is withholding the money, so when he swoops in to save the day to look like a hero we know he was the villain too.

I know his base will eat it up, but it's still pretty obvious to everyone else.

Same shiat they're doing with covid relief package.

If he wins he will swoop in and release more than democrats to try to win hearts and minds, but fark all the people who lost their housing because they couldn't pay bills in the interim right?

We know who is doing it and why.

If you're stupid enough to fall for it you shouldn't be able to vote...

Period.

And now Trump change his mind and decided to give aid to California. I lost count how many times he has done crap like that. What a complete piece of shiat.

Garbage. New York gets far less money back from the Feds than it pays. What state are you in, taker?

Since the start of his term, Trump has sought to punish the states at every opportunity like a child who finger paints on the walls with their poop because they didn't get a cookie.

Old news. And New York doesn't have the money to pay their debt to the fed *or* support their own firefighters, so duh.

The two major political parties in the US are no longer compatible in civil society.  Time for all out hot shooting civil war.  Winner takes all, have the losers exterminated, because there is no compromise that can be had.  Lets all pick a day to start the civil war.  I propose April 15.

He won't do anything differently if he stays in office, in fact, it will get worse because nothing short of impeachment will get him out and by then he won't care

Here's the problem with that: It plays right into the hands of America's enemies.

We've got Russia funneling money and bots to exert influence over the American Right and, though many here on Fark will refuse to accept this fact, China is funneling money and bots to exert their own influence over the American Left (though not as obvious nor as successful - so far).

While China and Russia are both fully aware that they are each other's biggest rivals (in the long run), they both have stakes in seeing America knocked off the playing field first so that they can more openly engage in that rivalry without us sticking out noses (and military) into such a conflict.  Ergo, what we have going on right now: A proxy war between Russia and China taking place in America, and it has been slowly escalating over time from online forums to people shooting at each other in the street.

China wants to see protesters burning buildings and Russia wants to see cops and racist militias shooting at them.  Most of all they want to see them shooting at each other, and frankly neither China nor Russia really cares who wins their endgame literal Civil War 2.0 because no matter who wins America will be a gutted husk of its former self.  Millions dead, a wrecked military and an economy that will never recover from the damage because once we're down they will make sure we stay down.

In the end we'll have an America that knocked itself out, with Russia and China each keeping one foot on our chests while they're now free to swing fists at each other.  China will win in the end of that scenario, but regardless, America would still be over.  Gone.  A non-entity on the global field.

Though personally, my biggest fear is that Trumputin, upon losing the election, will try to start a shooting war with China just to keep himself in office - a situation that Russia would love to see happen because the resulting nuclear escalation would knock out both of Russia's biggest rivals at the same time.

The new definition of "trump"

2020-10-16 7:44:44 PM
Having spent a bit of time in a country that had rolling electrical blackouts, the Trump presidency feels like the political version of that.  I don't know whether it's just that Trump has spent the last thirty years so financially over-leveraged that life for him is a constant question game of "who do I have to pay right now, and who can I make wait a little longer?" but certainly his style of governing is one where things people and cities and states need are scarce and have to be fought for - and if they're not, well, he'll make them be.  Then it's just a matter of "Sorry, California, today is not your day," wait a few hours, "Oh, wait, yes it is, now New York, today is not your day" and so on.

I almost think a decent random-number generator would do a better job.

Because the core concept of our government is everybody governed gets a say in how they're governed. Sigh. I'm not saying you're wrong, their stupidity shouldn't cancel our education and involvement, but ultimately, that's the price. If we start applying some kind of test, how do you determine it might result with you on the wrong side of it one day? So... everybody votes.

How we run our country is a question with no "right" answer. It's more like trying to keep 300 million clowns juggling 900 million eggs. It's just about impossible for all the clowns to keep all the eggs in the air at all times and there's going to be a good amount of breakage. Best we can hope for is to mop the floor once in a while and try to keep the stink down.

however I tend to believe that people elevated to positions of decision making should be skilled in the areas they make decisions in. And that everyone's vote should be equal in the presidential election. And the electoral college pretty much proved it is worthless by letting Trump take office.

But I'm not mad, bro.
Goddammit.

So what is the answer?  Just keep going on the path we are on?  Both sides losing?  Or breaking into two countries, with the blue states being China proxies and the Red states being Russia proxies, but seperate countries?

How about while we are having our all out hot shooting civil war (starting april 15), the US also launches all the nukes at russia and china, so that they have to pick up their civilizations also.  Everybody gets the Ol' atomic fusion treatment!  That will teach the russia and china to use the us as proxy war.  At least if we have full on atomic fusion world war, the survivors win.  Currently nobody wins.  Except the politicans and ultra rich.  Atomic fusion doesn't usually spare people just because of money.
