Everyone either secretly or not secretly wanted to see Boston take 4 in a row against NYY in 2004.  No one secretly wants to see you do the same, Houston.  Go home.

It would be pretty 2020 for the cheaters to win it all.

I'm a fan of any team from Texas - so I am rooting for the Astros.  That said, I dislike cheating and I'm not happy that they broke the rules.

No matter where you stand, though, you have to admit that the Dodgers losing out and the Astros winning it all would generate such a truly epic level of angst amongst so many people that it would be delicious to watch.

It's okay.  I tend to get equal amounts hate and support on Fark, depending what I'm posting about.  I didn't expect this one to generate tons of love.  Still, it would be the most perfect 2020 ending for so many people, I can't help but believe it could happen.

That it would make me happy is also right on course.  I've had maybe the best year of my life in 2020.  I hate that so many people have suffered, but this has been one year when sooooo many things have gone well for me - at least so far.  I don't talk about it too much because of all the suffering out there, but, trust me, this would be right in line.

See, you're the type of fan I -don't- have a problem with.
It's the unapologetic Astros fans that are acting like what people -think- Yankees fans act like that are rustling jimmies.

What's amazing about the cheating is the Astros didn't need to do it. Maybe they don't win the WS, sure, but they were a very good team without. Just ridiculous.

So, other than all you folks clambering for the Astros to lose, is anybody really rooting for the Dodgers?  I know they're a good team and all, but I just have no desire to see them win.  They're on my hate list with the yankees, red Sox, and cardinals.  Chicago would probably make that list if they didn't suck most all the time.

Agreed!!  He is the link, between the Astros and the Red Sox, who got off easy, in my opinion, because the MLB did not want to admit how deep this went, and Boston is one of the sacred cows!!!!

I have no dogs left in this fight, I should be rooting against the Braves, but can't muster up the energy to care.

So yes, I am rooting for some of that beautiful angst from the internet if the Astros end up winning.

I also don't know anyone who is taking this season too seriously, so these cheaters winning it all in a meaningless season would be a great way to end it.

Exactly. The Red Sox are to be exalted and never besmirched, and so despite the fact that they have a commonality and got busted doing the same thing - their crime is mostly swept under the rug, with only Cora receiving any punishment. Nothing to see here, sports fans... move along.

I am decidedly against cheating in any sport.  That said, I think the Astros were the team that got caught.  Also, I'm not sure baseball would have gotten to "truth" in the Astros case if the players weren't given a deal for their testimony that basically amounted to immunity.  I think the whole situation was engineered to isolate the scandal to one team vs baseball in general.  Still, cheating sucks, but watching the internet implode is amazing.

The Bestest: ugh.. Rays are Falconing this series

Eh, Houston wasn't getting crushed early in the series - they just weren't getting hits AFTER they filled up the bases. A couple of lucky bounces or Texas-leaguers instead of solid defensive plays by the Rays, and the Astros are already in Arlington waiting on the Braves to finish off the Dodgers

The sad state of sports commentary in the age of talking heads and professional trolls. Stephen A, Skip, Cowherd, et al have made millions by intentionally saying stupid and/or incendiary things just to drive web traffic

For better accuracy and for my own petty desire to properly shame them, we need to say they are Yankeesing this series.

Same.  Back in November, Ken Rosenthal, one of the reporters who first broke the story, wrote an entire column at The Athletic about how he thought this went far beyond the Astros and calling for MLB to conduct a broader investigation. Manfred's response was a hard NOPE!  Video is too good a tool for this kind of thing to be isolated to a few teams.  I think with the steroid scandal not that far in the past, MLB took a purposeful decision to not ask questions they didn't want to know the answers to so they wouldn't have to endure another league-wide cheating scandal.  I think a number of teams skated because baseball chose not to look beyond the Astros.  To be clear, I'm not saying this absolves the Astros in any way, I'm saying they probably shouldn't be alone on the pillory.

And I think the meltdown if the Astros win would be hilarious to watch.

The butthurt if the 'Stros win a World Series after all of the fallout, a Verlander injury, Cole's departure in free agency, and limping through a rough 60 games in the toughest of the three COVID pools would be absolutely epic to behold. And, in a season that's already been all sorts of bizarre - why not put the icing on the cake?

I'm a Yankees fan and typically won't watch the post season unless they're in it. Made an exception for tonight's game. Sad to see the Rays folding against the Astros again. Could the Yankees have done better? We'll never know. I just don't want those damn cheaters to win.

They lose nothing by challenging, maybe they get lucky and someone has a stroke and overturns the obviously correct call.  However, they did not get insanely lucky, we're going to Game 7.
