This happens when a certain someone insists that loyalty only flows in one direction.

What are three states where there's nearly zero risk of being primaried by a Trumper?

The writing is on the wall.
The GOP with the least to fear from angry Trumpers will start to distance first.
Then the rest except for a few die hards like Gohmert.

Not exactly; there are Trumpers everywhere.  Charlie Baker was primaried by a Trumper in 2018.  That said, these are three states where there's zero risk that the Trumper would win that primary.

More than occasional; Deval Patrick has been the only Democratic governor since Michael Dukakis.  Massachusetts Republican governors tend to be very moderate, RINOs to the rest of the country.

They'll latch on if Trump wins again, without reservation.

Trump loses, he may find everybody's abandoned him. Everybody. Maybe Barr will stay behind a little to shred and cover tracks.

New England Republicans are a whole other breed. They're very centrist at best, but they also know they're vastly outnumbered in state legislatures (guarantee not valid in NH or ME) so they don't really try to act up. That, and they tend to be pretty socially liberal.

I grew up in VT, from a RI family, and moving out of New England was an eye opener. I was shocked to encounter real-life Republicans like the scary ones they showed on TV. I had no idea that not only were they not rare, they were actually the majority of what the Republicans are around the country. Where I was from they mostly just hated taxes.

Pennsylvania?

Not in Joe's backyard, son.

Even Trump knows he is dead in the water by this point so lulz.

And the legislature remains solidly Democratic so no opportunity for shenanigans

NH and VT also have Republican governors who are very popular.  Presumably also moderate.

And 56% of MA voters are independents, so you have to appeal to people beyond your own party to get elected to statewide positions.

I don't routinely praise anyone who's a republican, but i will say that indiana's governor has at least been smart enough to continue to mandate masks. Indiana isn't doing great, and will continue to not do great because outside of the major metro areas, people don't give a shiat.  but thats not the governors fault.
