Diablo 3, getting ready for Diablo 4. I love Diablo. Especially when you get a character to that sweet spot where they just come in waves and you're essentially invulnerable. Very satisfying.

/CSB on model M's, I left a job recently where we had thin clients that still had PS2 ports. I used one there that I found in a pile of old equipment for about 4 years? I really wish I had taken it with me when I left, it used to drive people I thought sucked eggs absolutely mad as I type fast enough that it creates a nearly ceaseless clacking... I'm sure those assholes threw it away without knowing what it was. They were too busy talking about their quiverfull plans and various fake news, and not listening to me ask them about how they stomached donald trumps clear godlessness.

Best DLC? Old World Blues for Fallout NV.
Worst? Anything from Borderlands: Pre-Sequel

Been playing The Survivalists all week.  I feel like I'm pretty close to beating it.  I'm rather disappointed with the length of the game, but it definitely is fun.  I guess I can't really complain when the deluxe version of the game is $30.

The worst DLC I ever got was the Legacy of the Yakesha expansion.  Not only did it offer no new content for max level players, but the stupid Frogloks took over Grobb!  My Troll Shadow Knight was ridiculed for years because of that.

I finally got my battlestation moved to it's own room downstairs with the house clear of all roommates, a man could get a whole lot of nothing done in this chair.

Been finally trying to whip my first play through of Tony Hawk with Jamie Thomas because that is how I used to roll. Won a few more Fall Guys rounds, and still trying to finish the admittedly not strong Squadrons single player campaign.
Now that I have fairly adequate space for V.R. I am going to calibrate it today or tomorrow to the new room and finally dig into Alyx.

Mod I got the most out of recently was the X Games and Olympics DLC on Steep. Loved that game but not the lack of content, that fleshed it out with some really fun parks.

I feel like I will finally get a solid 10+ hours of gaming a week in now that most of the chores and house work are caught up. I have no excuses left.

That's my personal best.

As far as worst, it would probably be something from the "Civ" franchise.

Finished The Original Strife: Veteran Edition. Started up Dishonored 2 after much deliberation over what I would play next.

Best DLC? Old World Blues for Fallout: New Vegas. Loved every minute of it.

Worst DLC? I do not know, honestly. I tend to be a bit stingy so I rarely buy DLC unless I know that I want it.

2020-10-15 12:57:06 PM
I won't say it's the best DLC, by far, but the most underrated one is XCom: Chimera Squad.  A lot of the hate was "it's not xcom!" or "it's xcom light!"

It wasn't grognard, it was beer and pretzels. It was well balanced and fun. I played it through 5 or 6 times.

2020-10-15 12:57:47 PM
Been playing a bit of Medieval Dynasty.  It's still in alpha, so it's raw, but it's heading in a good direction.  There are a lot of things had haven't been developed out yet, so if you're looking for really deep gameplay, you're not going to see it yet...but the developers seem open to including new ideas for the future.

2020-10-15 12:59:02 PM
Broke down and bought Squadrons.  Finally, a decent EA Star Wars game.  It certainly captures the XWvTF vibe.  Got called dogshiat in my first multiplayer mission, so that was cool.  Still haven't quite made the adjustment from flight stick to controller though.

2020-10-15 1:30:33 PM
Re-playing Bully right now, I hope to actually finish it this time.

I'm disappointed that I can't build ground floor hotel rooms in Project Highrise's Las Vegas add on, but it's not really a big deal. It would be nice, though.

2020-10-15 1:40:01 PM
I'm about to finish Secret of the Silver Blades, I'm on the second level of the final castle, only the inner sanctum left to go after that.  Then its off to Pools of Darkness, so I can wrap up that little bit of lost history.  I have the level setting maxed, so I have been at maximum exp since the Frost Giant Village.

DLC, like paid for it?  I really don't like any of it, it makes it seem like the developers released an unfinished game (Stellaris!, CIV VI!) but it would probably be Nuka World for Fallout IV.

Not-paid-for (mods) it would definitely be some of the aesthetic enhancement mods for the Elder Scrolls games.  Especially the ones with enhanced physics.  Yes, I'm a dirty old Nord.

2020-10-15 1:46:56 PM
I continue to play Star Wars: Squadrons.  Its just a ton of fun. I finished My Life At Portia on Monday.  It was a good game, but could have been 25 hours shorter.  I started a Plague Tale: Innocence.  Despite some solid reviews, I'm not terribly impressed so far.  It seems to be a walking simulator, with the puzzles in the game play very obvious and straightforward.  I'm on the 4th chapter, does anyone know if this gets better?

Thanks to Moike in last week's thread, I've ordered some parts to upgrade my X52 flight stick to have a less crappy cable.  Hopefully I'll get time to wire that up this weekend.

Best DLC?  This one:

Horse Armor best DLC....

'Tis a joke.

The DLC I've spent the most time on was for Shogun 2 Total War. 500 hours and counting.

I may get DLC for BOTWor Ghost of Tsushima.

For some reason, I just stopped playing Star Wars Fallen Order. I'd like to start up again if I ever have any time

Same. Loving Baldur's Gate 3, although I'm kinda not a fan of the camera aesthetic. Maybe that's what they are going for, like playing on a tabletop, but I feel like I'm missing something by not being able to look around.

Gonna hopefully play some tonight w/my buddy. I joked with him that I was gonna play an elf princess, then the custom menu came up and it was an elf female. Destiny aligned. Too late, I'm elven nobility, don't care.

For some reason getting screenshots from CoH in Windows 10 is a pain.  It seems to capture what was onscreen some time earlier (possibly when I switch to a different application and back) rather than what was onscreen when I hit PrtSc, and it does not even capture the entire screen sometimes.

Anyway, here is Giga Farad waiting for the Hamidon raid to start.

Currently playing football manager 2020 since the free giveaway. Currently taking my local side, Wingate & Finchley from the lower lower leagues to the top! Currently in the Vanarama national. It's getting exciting!

Never regretted a DLC purchase I've made.
I'm quite sparing, and I tend to wait for sales. I'm currently waiting for another Assassin's creed sale to get the Odyssey DLCs.

The best would be almost any paradox grand strategy DLC. I think they've got it nailed down, add content to the game for a decent value. They're also not essential so you don't need to if you don't like the sound of it.

Understand that this excellent genre of alleged videogames and alleged dancing may not appeal to Farkers because it requires basic human skills like "not getting exhausted because you walked from the front door to your car", but you can take confidence that my findings are genuine.

Consider that most people do not even know there is a Doubles mode, where you play both sides of the board, and then they come up with this idea that you create a dance team and you share the entire board -- multiple people play Doubles at the same time -- you even get bonus points for saying "You got served!" at the end of the song.

I think the reason I enjoy this mode so much is because there is this thing in videogaming where you blame your noob allies for costing the match, and now I can do this in my cutting-edge fake dancing simulators.  What the hell were red and blue even thinking, hitting the notes in a substandard fashion?

I really wanted to post a video of someone playing this, but turns out that Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up players are physically incapable of having enough balance to play these games without the use of the metal handrails behind the dance controller, it is legitimately embarrassing and I do not wish to give them publicity.

Imagine playing these games with the safety bar when you could be playing them with two long sticks, one in each arm, as you smack the buttons with the sticks in order to achieve the full combo.  Degenerates.  The whole lot of 'em.

You're in for a treat! Dishonored 2 is one of my all time favorites. And the new game plus mode is an absolute joy.

2020-10-16 9:10:57 AM
Been playing Squadrons here and there. Having some serious issues with the ranked mode, as half of my placement games have been uneven teams. They shouldn't be able to launch a ranked game unless it's 5v5. Devs claim they are working on it, but it's sapping my desire to play.

Best DLC? Lair of the Shadow Broker for Mass Effect 2. Brings back Liara, and had a decent length of gameplay to it, and the Shadow Broker files on your party just add that little bit of extra spice to the party members' backstories. ME2 is my #1 game of all time, so that colors my opinion somewhat.

I've been playing Dishonored 2 while waiting for Torchlight 3to be released on Xbox. I'm about to reach the clockwork manor on NG+, which should be pretty fun.

The best DLC I've ever purchased would be Witcher 3's Heart of Stone or that one in Elder Scrolls where you go to Sheogorath's realm.

The worst: I'm an actual sucker who paid for horse armor.

Fell into the Remnant: From the Ashes hole.  I never knew I wanted to spam panic rolls while taking potshots.  Not overly fond of the bosses, but I do love all the nooks and crannies throughout the map.  Been playing in offline mode, since it's pretty annoying when they run off without you and kill everything when I want to slowly comb the map.  Will mess with online co-op after I finish the game.

As for DLC, the worst will always be Horse Armor.  I personally blame it for normalizing first-day DLC AND paid cosmetics.

Yeah, I hated what happened in Nuka world too. I've way too many hour shooting raiders on sight and now I need to hand over the settlements i built for the people to them?? piss off. I only missed 2 achievements in that game, they won where i have over all of the settlements to raiders and the one in nuka with the gun game, that's not fun that punishment.

Sadly, little G____e drowned a couple days ago when I went ashore a little too long.  :(

that is on my watchlist.  Looked fun when FGTvee were playing it.  glad to hear good things about it.

Epic free games have been great with kids at home.  they get a 'new' game every week if they are good, given they are 8 and 6, some weeks are more appropriate than others.

Civ 6 was nice to try (thanks Epic), but vastly different from  Civ 3, which is my civ go-to

Started with Rocket League a couple of weeks ago.  Very fun break between meetings.

2020-10-16 9:37:01 AM
Squadrons is the game I've wanted every video game generation since the 90s.  Got a fairly solid team that actually uses tactics.  I took to the standard TIE right away, and I'm not sure why.  This week I found a hit-and-run Interceptor stealth build that makes escorting and covering easy-mode, and a tractor-and-beacon Support build that shuts down the "mosquito" bomber tactic (ie, touch nose to capital ship and hold down fire button).

When my team isn't on, Fall Guys.

2020-10-16 9:43:20 AM
I've been playing Warzone and Ostriv almost exclusively this week, I came back to Warzone this week after a month off, and it takes some time to get back into. Mitigating adrenaline from the hunting of others and being hunted takes some getting used to again. Ostriv is definitely my current favorite colony sim, though I wish the guy would update it a bit more often.

Best DLC? Blood & Wine for Witcher 3.
Worst DLC? Probably one of the shorter Borderlands expansions, or Fallout's.

2020-10-16 9:46:03 AM
Checked out a couple of hours in the latest Grounded update. Nothing all that interesting, still no new areas to explore, and nothing major for base upgrades...

Went through several boxes in storage last night and found all my older RPG books. 3.x D&D, 3rd, 4th, and 5th edition Shadowrun, 2nd and 3rd Edition Star Wars, 2nd edition Mutants and Masterminds, 1st edition Vampire: The Masquerade, 2nd edition WoD and Vampire: The Requiem books, some Pathfinder stuff that I forgot I had...

All in all, about 4 plastic bins worth of books.

Now I need bookshelves...

2020-10-16 9:46:57 AM
More GTAV Online. Went to go see if I could finish up Spider-Man PS4 but found the game data deleted (not the save thankfully) cause the kids had to make room for some other stuff. So I deleted the other stuff and proceeded to re-install it. While I waited I got a little further in Control and God of War PS4.

Best DLC I've personally bought would be Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. Worst would be the Fortnight battle pass I purchased for each of the kids once.

Mike_LowELL: I really wanted to post a video of someone playing this, but turns out that Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up players are physically incapable of having enough balance to play these games without the use of the metal handrails behind the dance controller, it is legitimately embarrassing and I do not wish to give them publicity.

As ever, my video game habit manifested itself in quick micro doses of games played as I slowly, slowly work my way through my backlog. Part of that is that my long-planned/wish-listed/waitlisted/etc. new desktop build looks like it might actually finally fall within my budget this time next week, which is exciting, even if a Ryzen 5 3600/GeForce RTX 2060 Super is nobody's idea of a cutting edge rig.

First, as ever is good old Star Wars: The Old Republic, where my Jedi Knight finally is doing missions on Hoth. Eventually, the goal is to scavenge plans for the current Sith Emperor's fortress-ship from an ice-preserved wreck. Unfortunately an Imperial invasion force has delayed that somewhat, so I'm currently sabotaging artillery emplacements:
Fark user imageView Full Size

Those have now been disabled, and increased Imperial activity around the aforementioned ship crash site is about to get some lightsaber diplomacy.

Moving on from Hoth to what the localization team is certain is Definitely Not Japan, I decided to play Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All, the second game in the franchise after I had enjoyed the loopiness and insanity of the original game last year. Despite the game opening with Phoenix getting assaulted with a fire extinguisher and arguing the opening case with head trauma induced amnesia, I was disappointed in how relatively sane the first case was. No parrot cross-examinations here, just this jerk who never shuts up:
Fark user imageView Full Size

Who might qualify as the most annoying opening witness yet.  I did successfully defend my client and send this dude to trial for the murder he basically confessed to. Now off to have "burgers" in an American noodle stand (and definitely not Ramen in Japan) with Mia Fey before the second case.

On tabletop, both my Dungeons & Dragons games got postponed due to scheduling, so to scratch that Rime of the Frostmaiden itch, I busted out the OG Icewind Dale game again. This was the only Infinity Engine series I never really played much back in the day, so I'm playing the Y2K-era interface here in 2020 and getting mildly aggravated by the QoL improvements that simply don't yet exist. I created my party with useful descriptive names in the hope I might remember their classes/roles:
Fark user imageView Full Size

And on to the prologue in Easthaven. I did all the initial side quests (fighting beetles below the bar, rescuing the boy's fish from goblins, clearing a wolf from a workshop and reuniting a river spirit with the descendant of her true love) and rested a bunch between each, since I'm both not trying for a speed run, and also recall how lethal 2nd Edition D&D combat can be.

That done, it's off to the caves to try and track down what's happening with the trade caravans:
Fark user imageView Full Size

Which I think becomes the first part of the main quest when I report back to Hrothgar in town and the expedition begins in earnest. All I remember is that the next location opens with a surprisingly large Orc force as the first encounter. So it's time to get stabby.

isamudyson: So, what about Para Para Paradise?

I appreciate the entire lineage of games spanning Dance Dance Revolution, Pump It Up, Dance Maniax, Para Para Paradise, Just Dance, Dance Central, and Dancerush Stardom.

Understand that I am a degenerate who takes up hobbies and interests that suit his various psychological needs, and when it became apparent I will never become the best Warcraft III player in the world, I saw an opening, I saw an opportunity to lift weights and become Rank One™ at the fusion of dance and videogame.

I am still not Rank One™ and I will never get close to being Rank One™, but I disabled the setting in Dance Dance Revolution where you get booed if you do poorly.  Even when I fail, I feel as though I am achieving greatness.

2020-10-16 10:00:04 AM
As to the side question, I'm generally not much of a one for DLC, and am old enough to remember when they were called expansions and you bought them off the shelves at Virgin games centres or Electronics boutique stores.

I suppose by default in the post-Steam/Epic/Origin era of DLC, I've only really purchased a few, so it's probably either The Old Gods/Sword of Islam bundle for Crusader Kings II, the Horizons pass for Elite Dangerous that turned that into an actual fun game from a void simulator, or my most recent DLC purchase Star Wars: Journey to Batuu for The Sims 4 (which I'm leaving to install on my home laptop whilst I type this on my work one. I assume it'll also be the worst DLC just because the Sims stuff is so wildly variable.)
