40 years of Mitch's hard work of court stacking, will be dissolved by July. And I can't wait to see him biatch and cry into his bowl of spinach.

Dude, for the next 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. years, the House, the Senate, the POTUS, will probably flip around here and there. Coney Bryant, along with Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, will likely be there as a trio for 25-30 years.

That's quite a trade off for them. They are winning by pushing someone through, even if it means short-term losses at the highest level.

And it probably doesn't mean short-term losses at the highest level. They may very well lose POTUS and the Senate this time around. But it won't be because of a SCOTUS nominee. It's because they are likely to lose anyway.

Seriously bad idea in my opinion (which is worth squat)

Impeach them both: Kava-bro and Conan the Barbara.

IANAL so, maybe it's not feasible. But seating more judges on the Supreme Court is an assault on the balance of powers.

I think it is very useful to point out to conservatives that with a 6 to 3 control of the supreme court, they could totally nullify Biden, so there is no reason to bother voting for a man they claim to loath.  Unless there was some other reason, besides the Supreme Court, that they liked Trump.  Conservative Evangelism has never been about Jesus.  It has always been about having a God who said that white western Europeans were his chosen people, and that all their bigoted feelings towards others is thus justified.

Trump is a better fit for their actual religious beliefs than some homeless middle eastern Jewish hippy ever could be.

They wouldn't get the votes to impeach them. The GOP Senators pushing this through now aren't going to go vote to remove her, and Democrats won't have the votes as it requires 67 votes to remove.

Expanding is really the only option to un-skew it and neutralize the ideologues being stacked on there.

Not seating judges for 6 years based solely on the fact that they aren't being nominated by a President in the same party as you is more of an assault of the balance of powers than expanding the courts.

No, not at all.  The court needs to be reminded it's not above the other branches, and the republicans need to be reminded that the government is supposed to be by all the people.  Being deaf at the wrong time translates into a curb stomping.

And they can toss those three trump losers without getting 60 votes in the Senate, which an impeachment takes.

1)  Reduce the size of the SCOTUS to 6.  Seniority stays, new justices... aren't.

2)  Expand the size of SCOTUS up to 15.  INCREASE the number circuit courts to 14.  Each judge except the chief justice gets a circuit to watch.  Chief justice has FISA to worry about anyway.

So what does this do?

Reminds the SCOTUS that they have to respond to today's problems, not some originalist wet dream.  Jefferson's comment about how long a constitution should last kind of sums up the situation.

Fixes a long standing configuration issue with the court

And finally, gets us some justice around here.

If Biden wins, the evidence will be released that Trump and several Republican congressman are certainly guilty of high crimes and treason. There may be a reasonable argument that all the Republicans' partisan appointees are illegitimate and should be removed from their positions since they were only appointed and approved by treasonous scumbags.

I feel like this particular stunt of trying to seat Barrett is going to blow up in conservatives' faces in a serious way. In fact, I feel like I'm watching the Terry Schiavo case in 2005 and how the religious right tried to use to manipulate votes and it backfired on them by making them look like ghouls who preyed on a private family case. I don't think outside voters will forget and forgive them for this anytime soon, I think this will electrify voter turnout against them.

I mean, maybe that's the optimal situation. Democrats, by free election standards, votes, are a majority of this country. A democratic republic is balanced on a seesaw of equitable representation, a 6-3 Court is clearly antithetical to those principles.

Fairly naive to think we're at peak civilization here, or that government would not evolve via osmosis. Evolution cannot occur without a catalyst, never has, and probably never will.

You can't ever reach a higher state of equilibrium, without an equal and opposite action. If balance isn't restored in the form of equitable representation, it'll just lead to a repudiation of the system itself.

The majority of voters in this country are not going to just pray for a chance to have the SCOTUS represent them ~2035, that'd be ridiculous and clearly needs to be remedied in the case of a 6-3 Court. Otherwise, people would just say "fark the SCOTUS", and I don't really blame them. The whole system is supposed to work on representation, and if the Court is not only NOT representative at all, but is actively working against the spirit of the majority, the effects would be much worse through repudiation and illegitimacy, than anything "court packing" would do.
