A member of the board who lacked swing to change direction?

So is Obvious Tag gonna round them back up, or are they gonna stay on the loose?

Great comedies sow curiosity to enhance reality.

Fox News isn't news and it isn't funny.

I've often wondered who takes over when Murdoch eventually (I assume) dies. I guess this was the liberal son.

Is the other one like his father?

Someone needs to buy that network and turn it into the Gorilla Channel.

2020-10-11 2:40:36 PM
Apparently Lachbrain is still in charge.  Besides, how is Fox any different now (this guy has been gone a few months) than it was before?

This guy still allowed Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Judge Drinkee, Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingraham, and so many others there just to make their racist fanbase happy.

Where did he think he was working, the Mister Rogers show?

So he has a kindergartner's grasp of reality.

Too bad Fox was never a "great news organization" instead of an openly partisan propaganda network aimed at spreading disinformation.

2020-10-11 3:55:18 PM
So... he's buying OAN then?

Yes (for the most part).

I suspect the FNC board is just a bunch of people who vie to kiss Rupert's ass the most.

Fox News Channel has always pushed a right-wing agenda, which by necessity misrepresents truth. Gotta wonder why it took him 24 years to decide it was a problem.

I wonder if his resignation is going to make him immune to various international prosecutions or investigations that are on their way. Murdoch's news assets are going to be turned inside out by countries with more reasonable regulators and laws than the USA. Now that Greece's Golden Dawn has been deemed a terrorist organization by the Greek courts, Murdoch's cooperation with all kinds of far right political organizations is going to catch his family in investigations.

Eh. The rest of the board is his dad, his brother, Paul Ryan, a French vulture capitalist, the guy who runs F1 racing, a telecom ceo and some guy who used to own a telecom, but now just seems to serve on boards for various banks and fox.

I doubt any liberal leanings would carry much weight with that crowd.

Buy a share of Fox Corp, present your cunning plan of dumping all their happy horseshiat for real news, and be prepared to explain in great detail how that will earn your fellow investors more money

Oh, you won't be able to do that? Well neither could number 2 son so they sent him packing (although as a gesture he's saying he quit)

Fox will continue to spew horseshiat and make assloads of money until their current audience gets a clue or dies off

He was indoctrinated, so he had little choice. I was brought up in a right wing family and let me tell you, it's not easy to change. It's not like flipping a light switch. And he probably left because he knew fighting it was a futile endeavor. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And family. I'm not making him out to be a hero or anything, but being raised by Rupert Murdoch means you start out with a deeply skewed sense of right and wrong.

Good, he stood for his principals against the REAL "Fake News" Organization!

I was on a Board of Directors for nearly four years and my railing against being lied to by liars and cheats went nowhere until I finally was let go!  The liars were listened to and won again - and then they removed all the professional management staff and loaded it with cronies!  It will cost them big in the future but it is no longer my problem!

Sure, for now he is doing the bare minimum by not actively participating. But give him that he didn't just move on with it. It would have been an easy thing to do. Most kids of these people do.

another propaganda arm of the left!

There's a call to mount a Royal Commission into Murdoch's use of media assets in Australia. It won't go anywhere because the current Prime Minister is a large beneficiary of Murdoch's largesse, but it's interesting that there's a movement starting to look into this.

I have cable TV in Australia which has a "covid-19" channel which is mostly Sky News.  During the day it is much like CSPAN in the US where they just run boring government press feeds.

In the wee hours of the morning they tend to hop from Sky News UK to Sky News USA then to Sky News Australia.  The three stations are very far apart in how they report things and it is like someone changed the channel.

Sky News UK isn't part of the Murdoch empire any more so I'm not sure why it is being run here as part of the Sky News brand.  Other cable news channels include Rusian Times, Al Jazeera, China Centra TV, NHK World (Japan), BBC World, Viceland, CNN, NBC.  It is very interesting watching the different take from the country sponsored channels.
