It's going to get really interesting if a couple of Republican Senators aren't available to vote on Trump's Supreme Court pick. My guess is that those that have said that they would not vote for the nominee will have a sudden change of heart and vote yes.

2020-10-02 8:26:02 PM
That's two from the Senate Judiciary Committee down and isolating for at least ten days, making the Committee a tie until one of them recovers. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but that would seem to stall the Barrett nomination at least temporarily.

All of this is a direct result of Trump and the GOP not respecting RBG's dying wish.

I would think the evangelicals in the Republican Party could take a hint.

Almost like this Covid thing is incredibly contagious.

Shame we didn't know this before *checks notes* October, 8 months into the pandemic.

I swear this weekend just keeps getting better and better. Chris Christie next for the deadpool please.

Not only that, but Lee and Tillis are on the Judiciary Committee. GOP has a two member advantage. That means there could be a stalemate in committee if they can't return soon.

Most likely, Ms. Lindsey just foregoes committee hearings, though.

It's almost as if all the doctors and scientists were right and Trump and the GOP isn't qualified step all over their findings and suggestions..

Decades ago, back in March, there was a question floating around of when would the GOP take Covid seriously.

Consensus was as soon as someone important to them caught it.

/shame it took 200,000 dead americans to get to that point
//and 6,000,000 infected

2020-10-02 8:38:35 PM
Bonus madness: It can be two to five days after infection before you test positive.

Tillis was at the Judiciary meeting yesterday. And the GOP lunch on Wednesday.

1. yes. had they waited to do this pick with ceremony even a couple of days, the superspreader event would have been avoided, as whoever was patient zero would have been quarantined by then
1a. of course, with how sloppy they are on protocols and protection, probably was a matter of time anyway

2. take a hint? these are some dense motherfarkers

Republicans are only quarantining themselves if they test positive.  Can someone please tell these chucklef$cks they need to quarantine themselves if they have only been in contact with someone who has tested positive.

This is the actual madness of how not just this administration but a lot of society is handling covid protection: temperature screenings and/or actual covid testing, and what happens after... "I'm clear!" and off goes the mask. Just because your test shows negative for SARS-COV2 doesn't mean you don't have it and that you can't actively spread it. All of their protocols were probably defeated by that fact. 20 people in a room who just took the test and all showed negative. One of them was asymptomatic at that time and spread it around while no one was wearing a mask.

TBF, Biden's campaigning in person today despite sharing a stage with the COVID in Chief three days ago. He should head back to the basement for a bit, too.

Consider the week.  Sunday is when the New York Times article comes-out and we find out Trump is broke and a tax cheat.  Tuesday, is the most f$cked up Presidential debate in history.  Then today.

As if that would stop McConnell from holding the floor vote anyway.

Amy Coney Barrett tested positive months ago but recovered.  Could she still be infected and be the super-spreader that has infected everyone from the Pres on down?

So what happens if another GOP Senator is found out to be positive? Can the committee vote the nominee down, or would McConnell try to call a recess to prevent that from happening?
