You ain't lived until you carefully cut off the end of of the powdered creamer packet, poured in the sugar packet, carefully recrimped the end, shook it, and then placed it on the exhaust manifold of a running generator set for a few minutes. When you ain't seen civilization for 45 days, it's the best cookie you'll eat.

My bro was in the military  and used to bring MREs when we went backpacking. That weirdos insides are gonna clog up like a truck stop men's room from the Beef Stew
then explode with The violence of a  Super Nova from 35 year old peanut butter.

Semper Fudge dude.

I have some MRE's in my earthquake kit, and some freeze dried stuff. I tried one of the Beef stew ones. It was a little on the sweet side, but still edible. The wife DID NOT like it.

The old ham and lima beans C-ration used to be called "ham and motherfarkers" by the troops.  That was before my time in the military, but I still call lima beans "motherfarkers".  I'm the only one who eats them in the house, but sometimes I'll ask the distaffbopper to pick up a can of motherfarkers, and she knows what I mean.

Is this is the guy that ate a ration from the Boer war? Let's get that out on to a tray.

I used to buy hardtack and rations and that sort of thing and eat them out of curiosity when I was a kid.  I would also eat anything that was marketed as "astronaut food."

Never really thought about filming or photographing myself doing it because, being that I was not in the military on going to the moon, something about it felt shameful.

It's amazing when you can turn your weird passion into a living.

He's actually a landscaper by profession. The YouTube MRE thing is a passion, but all the money he makes from it goes into buying more MRE's. Some of those old ones from WWI and WWII can cost thousands of dollars. Keep that in mind next time you see him open an 80 year old Royal Navy survival ration and eat one of the candies or biscuits from it. He's eating it because he probably paid a couple grand for it.

Also, Steve has only gotten sick from MRE's twice, and both were rations that were only a year or so old and should have been well within their shelf life. One was from Eastern Europe (Lithuania, maybe?) and the other time was a Chinese PLA ration. The first one was bad enough to warrant a hospital visit for eColi or something like that. The second one (Chinese MRE) had him puking his guts out for about 12 hours at home.
