Aw man, it Feels So Good to have a documentary made about Herb.

/I just said that to get a Rise out of those of you who were old enough to listen to the radio in the late '70s but not old enough to distinguish between two trumpet-based instrumentals in the Top 40.

Herb Alpert with a Burt Bacharach/Hal David song is the ultimate expression of one kind of late 60s vibe.

THE pioneer in multitrack recording. He recorded The Lonely Bull in 1962, performing all the parts. The reason A and M existed was none of the regular studios understood what he was doing, so he did it himself. The side benefit was he could spot talent a mile away.

That was nice. the scenes with his current wife were awwwwwesome. They are freaking adorable, and I'm going to find more of her work.

The 70s and 80s would have sounded very different without him.

And in the same decade there was Mitch and His Gang, which was really a gang of Mitch. On his biggest and iconic hit, the Mitches didn't even sing, they whistled.

I have an original 78 shellac  pressing of that.

It is one of my prized possessions.
