brantgoose: I started to do a search for "Nothing of Value was Lost that Day" but failed to find it in this thread.

Nothing of value was lost that day.
Nothing of value was lost that day.

dbirchall: And then he just didn't. And I thought to myself, "I really feel abused, honestly." I was actually - I took it personally.

That's conservatism for you. Nothing matters until it affects you personally. Fark everyone else.

Nevermind that what Trump did was WRONG. His grievance is about his personal sacrifice to his idol that was not rewarded.

Iggie: That was not politics any more. That was me personally, and I feel like he screwed me. Personally.

Gee, if only there was some way of knowing that you might get screwed by Trump. Who could have known?

BizarreMan: That's what it took?  THAT'S WHAT IT TOOK?!?!?!?!?  All the other racism was AOK?

It's really bizzare, but apparently it is actually a real thing. Here's what I think it is:

They don't want to think they're racist. Trump is a flaming racist bag of shiat, but as long as there's some kind of "okay, sure, you tell yourself that sweetie" kind of excuse, they'll use that to pretend he's not *really* racist, 'cause...

However, when he openly endorsed a group of fascists founded by a neonazi when asked to condemn white supremacism, yeah it's pretty darn hard to invent an "uh b b but he didn't mean it *that* way..." excuse.

Others called it and it's becoming more and more clear that they were right: "Demented" "sleepy" Joe Biden saw him waffling and looking for an excuse to blather out some glittering generality that we can be sucked into debating if it was "actually" a lie, and on the spur of the moment offered Trump the rope and sure enough the "genius" with the "very large brain" and "world's best memory" fell for it like the farkwit he is and hanged himself.

dbirchall: FTFVideo: "I've spent a tremendous amount of my personal capital explaining to the world that the "Fine People" hoax was a hoax, and obviously he's condemned all these groups a number of times; you'll see compilation clips of him condemning the same groups, so it's not like he hasn't done it plenty of times.

"But when the "Fine People" hoax came up again, I literally stood up from the couch, and said "Here it is.  Here's the moment where Trump just has to say, 'You based your entire campaign on that lie?  I just encourage everybody to look at the transcript, and you'll see that the part they cut out is the part where I clarified that I'm condemning those groups.'"

"If he had said that, I would've said "I'm really happy that I spend so much of my time, and my personal credibility, a great deal of money - I would say that my personal financial situation is way worse, way worse because of supporting the President, there's no question about that."

"And I thought, "It's so obvious what you should say in this situation."  And then he just didn't.  And I thought to myself, "I really feel abused, honestly."  I was actually - I took it personally. That wasn't politics any more.  That was not politics any more.  That was me personally, and I feel like he screwed me. Personally.

"And I had to sit there stewing in that.  And then this white nationalist - the white supremacist question comes up, and he botched it.  It was a lay-up.  It was free money siting on the f***ing table.  And he left it there.  And he left me on that table, too.  He left me just exposed.

"So he lost my vote.  He lost my vote.  Can he get it back?  Yeah, all he has to fix that.  I mean, how hard is it to fix it?  Well, apparently it's pretty f***ing hard for him, since it's taken three years since Charlottesville and he hasn't f***ing fixed it yet.  Easiest f***ing thing he'd ever fix."

All I can say is "I'm so sorry for what happened to you, Scott.  Welcome to knowing how most of America has felt ...

He finally realized that politics isn't Farking football, or a game of chess. People are really affected by this shiat. government isn't a farking sport.

Jesus I'm running out of insults.

Try watching Lenny Henry as Gareth Blackstock in the BritCom "Chef!".  He had a command of invective that could strip the hide off a sous chef while never venturing into profanity.

Some examples:

(delivered like a Marine Drill Sergeant, just short of popping blood vessel):  "You are a pea-brained, prat-faced, pompous, pillock-headed cretin. If you took an intensive course of intelligence injections and studied till you drop, then one day you might make it to moron third class failed."

(delivered in a deceptively calm, polite, erudite tone - shifting to apoplectic Drill Sergeant for the last four words):  "While I was down there, I couldn't help noticing that the kitchen floor is in the most disgustingly filthy state that it is possible for the human brain to conceive. Amateur microbiologists amongst you will find much down there that will enthrall and fascinate. Very likely species as yet unknown to science are breeding freely underfoot even as I speak. It is possible that I'm kneeling all unbeknownst on a cure for the common cold, herpes and male pattern baldness all rolled into one. Put all such considerations out of your minds and clean this frigging floor!"

One of the best sitcom characters in years. I loved that show. I quoted it in my kitchen, which surprised people as I wasn't the shouty nasty chef type.

My favorite was when he was delivered a sub par sauce.

"Get me a large knife, sharp like a razor. I have to castrate the person who made this sauce and I want to avoid any unnecessary suffering. It is imperative that the author of this atrocity is not allowed to breed any more."

SurfaceTension: BizarreMan: That's what it took?  THAT'S WHAT IT TOOK?!?!?!?!?  All the other racism was AOK?

I never really associated him with overt racism. I thought he has more of a dude-bro/incel following.

If "mexicans are rapists" and "muslim ban" isn't a deal-breaker for him, he's a racist.  Period.

WTF is wrong with our country that we look to rich celebritys for advice?

Why do you say he's an idiot? You sound uninformed. He says a lot of things. Some of the things you may not like. Some of the things I don't like. However, he is extremely productive in cranking out creative and original ideas. Objectively true.

He's paying for this?

The worm is gone.

The guy with no arms, no legs, barely any way to function in society without society making allowances for him to function is gone. He was ALWAYS the first one I looked for in every Richard Scarrey illustration. And now he's gone. That right there let's you know what a shiat show that world is when the worm cannot find a place in it.

When your idea of an 'unbiased' moderator is Giuliani or Bill Barr instead of softball artist Chris Wallace, everything looks like the Chinese Community Party.

I meant "this idiot" in the sense that he's not an expert on politics or running a country any more than anybody else.  His opinion isn't any more valid or important than mine or yours.
Might as well ask my dentist what he thinks, or mechanic or whatever.

Nonsense, how could anyone be more unbiased than the head of the department of justice. We know bill barr wouldnt endanger his reputation by appearing partisan, especially not during election season. The man is a paragon of restraint and virtue.

Yeah, I noticed.  Fortunately, I wasted less of my time transcribing part of his video than he wasted of his time making it.

I'm registered independent and every time I see someone from one party (who is probably voting a certain way no matter what, these days) being an asshole to other people just because they're from a different party (and are probably voting a certain way no matter what), I am reminded of George Washington's farewell letter... and of the old saying about catching more flies with honey than vinegar.
