In all seriousness, folks, we NEED an entire month for Pizza.

Pizza is a whole vast, varied continuum of wonderfulness.  One day, nay, one WEEK is not enough to experience and venerate all of the joyous variety that is Pizza.

I adhere to the philosophy of IDIP - "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Pizza".

/And this month will carry us through, right up to the election, so there's that.

PIZZA really needs its own tag. It's the perfect food and worthy of talking about multiple times a year.

Rookies.  I'm in the middle of a pizza life.

not to be oblivious but isn't the only difference between Chicago and Detroit style pizza that Detroit is cooked in a square pan and intentionally burnt?

chucknasty: not to be oblivious but isn't the only difference between Chicago and Detroit style pizza that Detroit is cooked in a square pan and intentionally burnt?

What I'm hearing from you, essentially, is that we need to nuke the entire region.

I'm with you on this.

I would like to take this time to express my support for pizza. It's damn good. You can quote me on that

2020-10-01 4:40:11 PM
Chicago blah blah, New York blah blah, Connecticut blah blah, New Jersey blah blah, Detroit blah blah.

2020-10-01 4:54:29 PM
I grew up on New York slices. The scent of a thin pie cooking in an oven and the thought of a Pac-Man arcade cabinet brings me back to when I was a five-year old hanging out with my dad after he dropped off his cab. These days, give me a white pizza with sausage, bannana peppers, and roasted garlic.

God DAMN but is this headline ever so tiresome.

No. Chicago pizza is a pizza-inspired food most akin to a casserole, or maybe a savory pie. It's a good pizza-inspired casserole. It's not pizza.

Detroit-style is closest to Sicilian, if we have to pick an Italian style to compare it to. Characteristics include: it's square or rectangular and sliced into squares; it's a pan pizza (i.e. it's cooked in a pan, not on a stone, lore has it the first were cooked in cast iron auto-parts trays); a greasy, very "bready" crust; cheese up to the edge of the pan, resulting in burnt cheese around the entire edge (the rest need not be burnt). It's pizza, if only barely.

Both can be quite yummy.

I think they mean about how Farkers think Chicagoans only think we only eat deep-dish and stuffed. I do like stuffed, but it's sometimes too much to eat. It's damne near impossible to cut a Football pizza into triangles. Ours and others tavern cuts styles are much better for feeding groups.

Chicago is known for pizza and beef , and mild sauced chicken,, no giants chains that serve anything related like Pizza Hut, Arby's, even chicken joints don't last long.

Biggest issue I have with that video is heating a Teflon pan until it's "almost smoking".  If you do that you're releasing toxins into the air, and will kill birds if you own any (not doing your lungs any good either).
