Rocketing past Alabama....

I don't understand how masking up is so hard for so many people.  I wear one at work when I'm not in my office (so I spend lots of time in there).  But when I'm out shopping and interacting with other people.  It's not a big deal at all to me.

Pinche Mateo: Rocketing past Alabama....

The governor just extended our mandate because the results have been even better than expected (shocking!). Most new cases are showing up in the West and Southwest now. The whole virus is just making a clockwise circle around the country.

PNW, watch yo back, homies.

Lots of Right-Wing Americans never matured past the "I don't have to listen to you! You're not my real dad!" phase.

I have been to Mississippi.  I have seen what their teeth generally look like.  Their state would be a whole lote more attractive if they just kept the mandate until the end of time.

Yeah, of all the southern states, Alabama probably did better. Kay Ivey said "everyone mask up." Maybe a little late, but she did do so.

Georgia: "Mask up, but I'm not gonna make you and the cities can't neither, but I'm all for local control and Go Dawgs!"

Mississippi: "Mask up, but only when your county hits a certain case load."

Judging by my trips to Costco over the past six months, my town reached Peak Mask about a month ago when I only saw one mask-less asshole in the store. I went yesterday and saw about ten people pulling the classic l'll-put-my-mask-on-to-get-in-the-door-then-take-it-off-because-fark-all-y'all move.

Mississippi here. Rates are already increasing  mildly before he let the mandate expire. He's not a smart man, but he was taking good advice (mostly from Haley Barbour we think). Hospitals are getting ready for it to get bad; Mrs/Dr Cell is a physician and I hear her virtual staff meetings, and I spend some effort with the state hospital.  Oh well, it was nice having kids in school while it lasted.

You know, whenever I see that particular grinning rictus of his, I can just imagine him practicing it in the mirror for hours.

It's obvious a genuine grin does not come naturally to him.

It's literally the least, and easiest, thing you can do. And maybe the most effective, too.

I bet rednecks would wear masks if the masks smelled like their sisters' cooters.

I dunno, I'm a whiny self-centered prick and I wear a mask. Must be something else.

I'm in Mobile, and I'm actually proud of the governor for doing this.  I didn't think I would ever say that about an Alabama governor.

Apart from some of our overly staunch, hardline politics as a collective state, I'm generally proud of us a lot more than our national reputation or statistics would lead people to believe. Every transplant I know is pleasantly shocked, and usually sticks around.

But we gotta keep it on the DL or we'll be overrun with people!

And this is why we here in Louisiana are grateful that Mississippi exists. It keeps us from being No. 50 on every national list.

Covid was very bad here for quite awhile, but we turned the corner a couple of months ago and things have improved greatly. And that's almost entirely because we have a Democratic governor who listens to the experts and is willing to enforce the mask mandate, even against the evangelicals and their idiotic maskless prayer meetings.

And the main reason we have a Democratic governor was because not even all the Trumper types in Louisiana could bring themselves to vote for David Vitter. They still remembered the unqualified disaster of Bobby Jindal.

Are you claiming your own state is 100% hickless? Very doubtful. Even California is 30% pro-Trump.
