I feel horrible that I really actually literally laughed out loud like an idiot.

Poor lady. Hopefully she went quickly and painlessly.

But now I have to reconsider whether or not that kid heard that tractor equipment or not

I know a dude that was laying on the beach in Santa Cruz, tripping balls, when god saved him from the incoming tide.
Seriously, god showed up as a light in the sky and told him to get off the beach right now or he would die.

His friends figured out it was the police helicopter.

Nobody sleeps through a dozer rolling up to them. Either drugged to the hilt or suicide.

At first I thought this part came AFTER the accident and was extra horrified:

"The lady was leaning up against the wall - looked like she was holding herself up," Jay Burneo told KGTV. "I was concerned about her and we asked her if she was OK and she seemed OK."

/ It was hours before the accident
// RIP unfortunate woman

From what they've been saying in the local SD news I'd go with "drugged to the hilt."

Early morning beach goer for decades- can't say I've ever been concerned about getting flattened by the beach tractor.

It seems like a coastal Florida thing is to know at least one club kid who passed out on the beach and got kicked in the ribs by the trash tractor guy.

Or run over by Daytona beach cops on different pharmaceuticals.  One of the two.

So she died doing what she loved, being high and hanging out on the beach, better than most people get.

Feel bad for saying it but the "suddenly" in this headline just has me smh. 50,000 lbs of anything isn't sudden. It creeps in your direction, loudly. Hopefully whatever she was bombed out on gave her good dreams to close the curtain.

Subby, thank you for taking the high road and not just going with "Suddenly, squish" because that would have made me laugh.

If you have 50,000 lb equipment running up & down the beach, shouldn't the beach be closed?

ShamanGator: If you have 50,000 lb equipment running up & down the beach, shouldn't the beach be closed?

Came to say this. There should have been a closed off section where they were working. Technically the entire run of beach where they were operating should have been closed off and considered a construction zone. At the very minimum, a roped off "road" in the sand where the loaders were running.

Then again, if the woman was whacked out of her head, some yellow tape wasn't going to do a damn thing to stop her. Loaders are loud, but you can sleep a hangover off in the proximity of one. I've done it once or twice in my day.

I was there that morning. I go out to the beach every couple of weeks as a break from taking care of my mom. I was just across the lagoon when the emergency vehicles arrived. I figured it was a drowning, as it looked like good surfing. That poor woman.
