Many of their customers aren't 'digital focused' and have no desire to be.

They are also not going to leave that much open floor space.

With a number of generalized sporting goods stores closing (particularly Sports Authority) we have very limited in person options for purchasing camping equipment.  Walmart is the only place to buy stuff usually, and it is very depressing in that sense.

Walmart is really where the lipstick meets the pig.

The Walmart nearest to me is positively boring.  74% of households within a 5 mile radius have income of at least $75k/year. Only 15% of them are below $50k and about 6% below $25k. Once you go far enough to find poor people, there's another Walmart closer.

It's nice to have the riffraff at arms length, but it certainly takes the thrill out of that once a year I dare venture into Walmart.

Many of the big box stores including Walmart have more space than they need, especially with covid supply disruptions still happening. My local Walmarts have huge empty areas. And even Costco has shortened all their hardline aisles and shuffled other stuff around to make it appear full.

link was ok, then a 404, then ok again...  I hope that's not part of the digital redesign

Guessing actual implementation will more closely resemble the "4Chan" concept of a digital environment.
