Pfft, what are the odds of the Jets being terrible for the next 22 years to be able to draft Mahomes Jr number 1?

Being the crotchfruit of a superstar athlete does not guarantee they will themselves be a superstar athlete. Just ask Michael Jordan's kids. Or Wayne Gretzky's; his oldest kid quit hockey entirely because he got sick of everyone expecting him to be his father and he couldnt live up to it.

Apollo Creed's son did pretty well for himself.

Kind of a funny thing to post in a Patrick Mahomes thread. He himself is an example of the advantages of having a pro athlete as a dad, although I do agree with your point in general.

Lots of high quality juniors in baseball right now too. Fernando Tatis, Vlad Guerrero, Delino DeShields. The NBA also has current star players who are sons of pro players... some dudes named Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

When your dad is worth 500 million dollars, you don't risk your health playing football. You take up yachting or exotic car collecting.

Of course it doesn't guarantee, but it is a major, major factor:

Athletic talent is considered one of the more heritable traits passed from parent to child. In SuperFreakonomics, one of the books I wrote with the economist Steve Levitt, we performed a rough calculation showing that if a Major League Baseball player has a son, that boy is about 800 times more likely than a random boy to also make the majors. So it may not surprise you that a lot of the athletes we've been interviewing for this series came from athletic families.

I was wondering if I should know her name related to sports. A quick google says "former soccer player and fitness trainer". Doesn't seem to imply the matching up of two dominant gene pools.

The year 2020 keeps getting better for Patrick Mahomes.

Is it really though?

His life seemed pretty sweet and now you throw in a pooping, puking, screaming baby and frazzled wife into the mix?

He's worth half a billion dollars, if you think they are going to do all of that themselves - I have my doubts lol.

They're high school sweethearts and she's established a fitness company in KC since moving here, but she wouldn't be famous without him. I give her credit for doing a lot of work with local pet shelters, but she's also a well known pain in the ass.

It's Missouri, they don't have multiple kids/baby daddies, criminal records, a meth habit or missing teeth.  They're already rounding second base.

Nope. No kids. Rereading his post, I see it was a lighthearted comment, but in the moment I thought it was kind of dickish to take a negative stance on starting a family.

I wouldn't restrict it to one sport. Patrick is an outstanding athlete. He had his pick - baseball, football, basketball. Patrick's wife is quite the athlete as well, so their kids will have quite the pedigree,

/watch his kids become accountants or artists...
