They're all in the House, so they're all on the ballots in November.

That's probably why it's only 5 against.  Only the stupidest creatures would cut their own throats with this vote.

A nearly unanimous "resolution", (not a law) saying that we'll do what we're all going to claim to be doing regardless!  See, Congress *does* get things done!

The other Republicans just went along, but will still support Trump's questioning the validity of the election and his attempt to take it out of the hands of voters, because they too will be concerned about voter fraud.  They'd totally support a peaceful transfer if there wasn't so much Democrat fraud though.  Totally.

The resolution is linked in the article, but here's the text:

RESOLUTION

Reaffirming the House of Representatives' commitment to the orderly and peaceful transfer of power called for in the Constitution of the United States, and for other purposes.

Whereas the United States is founded on the principle that our Government derives its power from the consent of the governed and that the people have the right to change their elected leaders through elections;

Whereas our domestic tranquility, national security, general welfare, and civil liberties depend upon the peaceful and orderly transfer of power; and

Whereas any disruption occasioned by the transfer of the executive power could produce results detrimental to the safety and well-being of the United States and its people:
Now, therefore, be it

1 Resolved, That the House of Representatives-
2 (1) reaffirms its commitment to the orderly and
3 peaceful transfer of power called for in the Constitu
4 tion of the United States; and
5 (2) intends that there should be no disruptions
6 by the President or any person in power to overturn
7 the will of the people of the United States.

Controversial stuff, I tell you.

It's just a resolution, comrade. It doesn't carry the weight of law. It only lets congresspersons go on record supporting an idea or principle. Do you need those big words explained to you?

Anyone that voted against this, did so purposely.  And in doing so is effectively, no, literally, saying that they support Trump staying in power regardless of the election.  Which is the very definition of a coup.

Those people should immediately be removed from office.

So long as the various laws regarding what constitutes a valid ballot and what triggers a recount are followed, no.

Another Brooks Brothers Riot would be disruptive, though.

The fact this was necessary, even as a non-binding political optics play, and the fact it was an appropriate question in last night's debate if they would not ask their supporters to riot if a winner want known immediately on election night, IN AN ELECTION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, is a testament to the utter debasement of our political process Trump has wrought.

Madam Pelosi should strip all 5 of them of everything in the House - seniority, good office locations, committee assignments, all of it.

If you can't be in support of peaceful displays of democracy, why should she? Might makes right.
