Martin: "So I never did a hunting scene"

He couldn't be bothered to write it, but he's pissed off that they couldn't be bothered filming it.

Really?  But he was ok with the scene where they barbequed a 12 year old girl, complete with sound effects.  That scene could have happened off screen and refererenced if required but nooo they needed to create the most obscene scene in television history.   They should have been charged under obscenity laws for creating that scene.

No, he's pissed that they filmed it wrong. How could you not get that from TFA?

Reading comprehension can be a complexity around these parts.

I think the show producers did pretty well with the adaptation. Not the scene I would have picked though.

Oh, and username checks out.

This.

The man made a statement regarding a scene. He explained what they did wrong. He was correct.

One scene I didn't like was Jaime/Bran running into each other again, well not running in Bran's case. Jaime was let off too easy. Bran could have farked with him a bit. Bran creeped out Sansa, why couldn't he have done the same with Jaime?

I get where Martin is coming from but I took the scene to be right based on the shows narrative.

I mean he tells Ned how being King mostly sucks and how he missed battles/killing/etc.

Based on that, I would say Robert going into the woods for days with as few people as possible and trying to match battlefield days fit. Robert wanting to hunt and single handedly kill a huge boar fits.

Him sitting in a tent while following dogs and surrounded by soldiers, only to "hunt" once the boar was cornered wouldn't seem right to me.

Didn't read the books so maybe he wasn't as miserable as the show made it seem?

In a sense, Game of Thrones is a postmodern masterpiece.

"Eh, I'll just take the cash."

"What about finishing the story?"

"I'm okay with the cash."

I never watched the show, but Robert's wounding during the boar hunt was definitely described in detail at some point in the books. He's kind of splitting hairs by claiming a character reminiscing isn't a hunting scene.

From what I recall of season 1, the tournament scene really stuck out to me as being low budget compared to what it should have looked like had they had later season money.

The actual near porn in this series is a little more edgy too considering one character raped his sister next to the corpse of their dead bastard child in the middle of a farking church.

What made this so noticeable was the small council scene where Ned complained bitterly about what a large and unnecessary expense the tournament was.  The viewer was set up for an extravaganza and instead the whole thing looked about as grand as a Little League game.  The hunt, otoh, did not set up those expectations.

Obscene != porn. Yes some porn is obscene, but not all things obscene are porn.
Just like a dog has 4 legs, but not all creatures with 4 legs are dogs.

But yes, that scene was awful and unnecessary.

So ... If we were paying attention. It was already obvious in the first season that the show-runners would ruin anything that they tried to write themselves.

There is aulways pop culture and sports.

Actaully one of my fears is that a 6 to 3 conservative supreme court, we are gonna go back to the days of government deciding what we get to see based on decency an rather it is proAmerican.

You don't think burning a 12 year old at the stake is obscene?  You do you.

Obscenity is not limited to porn.

no, gore and violence and terror and horror are farking obscene.

It's not "stop liking what I don't like" with me and GoT. GoT is an example of people okay with all kinds of evil as long as they are "entertained" by it. Those messages..those stories..they seep into the cultural collective subconscious and they farking do a lot of DAMAGE.
