Common sense breaks out?

The FlavorAde must be wearing off if the Chamber is noticing that economy does better under D administrations.

They're businesspeople at the end of the day. Trump is bad for business.

How dare an independent organization decide for itself. Oh, that's right. Much like the NRA, it's not supposed to actually be "independent".

2020-09-29 4:58:42 PM
Republicans are bad for the economy and bad for business, unfortunately the chamber is just another republican org like the NRA whose main purpose is to elect republicans and enable their culture wars.

They're not a real chamber of commerce.  They just call themselves one to sound less like a branch of the Republican Party.

Thank you for pointing out it was actually FlavorAde.

They probably have seen how toxic Trump and the Republican Party have become. They want a seat at the table and they see a Democratic House majority staying around for awhile. They're pragmatic.

And I'll be the pedantic one who points out that up to half of the victims refused to drink the FlavorAde once they realized it was poisoned (there had been many "white night" practice runs at Jonestown...many were under the impression the massacre was yet another test run).  The victims who refused were found with injection marks and/or gunshot wounds.

So, basically, the GOP drinking the FlavorAde nearly to an entire man/woman proves they're even more devoted than the Jonestown followers.

Perhaps they've realized that stability is good for business.

I do manage to learn things now and then.

Maybe the finally realized how bad a businessman Trump is?

As a small business owner, I want to work with the local Chamber, but the overall direction of the Chambers are too right-leaning for me to want to associate with them.  Hell, here in Denver they're opposing a bill to allow paid maternity leave.

Yeah, I don't think it's "endorsing Democrats" so much as "denouncing Trump".

What's the context here?

Mr. Reed didn't approve of the perceived drift to the left and quit because it wasn't enough of a GOP cheerleader or the executive committee felt he was pushing things to the left and they didn't want to leave the GOP behind?

The Dems bail your economic asses out after every Republican recession. What's the problem?

Tribalist upset that others aren't also tribalist? Color me shocked.

Why an organization called the "US Chamber of Commerce" ever thought Republicans would ever benefit to US commerce is beyond me.

One makes you trip electric acid balls.

The other makes you die, brainwashed in the jungle.

Choose your poison.

The local CoC I participate in is typically filled with these sort of right-wing climber assholes.  These are the kind of people that you'll swap a business card with, get awkward background about their job and move on to something else and they proceed to call you every goddamned day about planning your estate or selling your house.

A core group of them are fine....they show up to write off their bar tab and one in particular loves talking music with me.  But holy shiat the majority are just the quintessential hyper-capitalist assholes.

I'm crushed. CRUSHED.

...Well, not that crushed.

Or a radical shift farther right by the GOP?

SlamPuff: Or a radical shift farther right by the GOP?

This. The CoC stayed pretty much where it was; the GOP sprinted to the right.

The Republicans were already well on their way down this path, but they were moving the Overton window more gradually, and keeping things relatively stable to keep from, y'know, massive uprisings and societal collapse. Trump grabbed that window and took off, and the rest of the Republicans followed.

They're lobbyists, not businesspeople.

Well, it's only logical to start assuming that if Democrats always deficit spend and Republicans only deficit spend when Democrats are not in-charge, that the only way to get Republicans to care about fiscal restraint is to put Democrats in-charge. Right?

So drifting left just means supports capitalism but without the rampant looting of the Treasury by failed bussinessmen.

"In recent weeks, the group endorsed nearly two dozen House Democrats, a move that perturbed President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Chamber officials said that the endorsements were among a slate that included just over 190 endorsements of Republican House candidates."

24<190

Kinda seems like it's still a bunch of republican assholes. Maybe it's a bigger thing than I'm seeing, I'll confess to almost total ignorance of the chamber of commerce.

Fark the Chamber of Commerce, they have always pushed Republicanism. Where I live they lobbied to lower the hourly starting pay at a newly built tire plant. They literally told the City and County Commissioners that that was too much money and lobbied for extremely lowered tax breaks (incentives) to get the company to move here. And, if they fight against, by quietly blackballing small businesses that generate lower revenues.

Why yes, I've had dealings with them and their idiocies.

You cant collect 27.6% upcharges on your negative interest loans from dead customers. Humiliating the lower caste while grinding them under your heal is fun and all, but you have to keep the next ex wife happy. And she needs a new yacht to put up with your Shrek looking ass.

the US Chamber of Commerce is NOT a us government organization.  I believe it is related to the Chinese in some way,
