To put that in nautical terms that Lil' Yachty will understand: When the Good Ship Lambo hit 150 miles per hour, she was doing 130.346 knots in no-wake zone.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm surprised that they released it to one of his friends.  Anyone else would have had it towed, where it would have cost $200 a day in fine.
I bet the cops didn't want to be responsible in case it was damaged.

Yachty posted a video on Instagram Monday with a simple caption: "I'm not in jail."

2020 is so hardcore that "no really, I'm fine and it's just a misdemeanor appearance in a few months" will not damage your rep, and is somewhat preferable.

Middle of the night, after making the mistake of driving through on a Saturday afternoon I now to through at midnight to 2am Friday or Saturday and traffic is generally very light. It's worth doing a 14 hour driving day to not have to tow through Atlanta traffic during the day.

I've driven through 'speed traps' going over 80 in a 55 and didn't get looked at twice on 285.  I wasn't passing anybody other than trucks.  Going up 400, the Hospitality Hostility Highway, you get your doors blown off if you go under 80.

A bunch of cops got busted going to a training center south of Atlanta.  If you were in the left lane cruising at 80+ they'd come up behind you and ride your butt until you got over and blow past you going 100+.  Then you'd see they were way out of their jurisdiction.

actually, most police pursuit vehicles have a lower drag-restricted top end because of the emergency lighting.  My point was, the cop would have to have been in something that does well OVER 150 to observe the ferrari, pursue and catch it while it's going 150, then follow it.  (The Dodge Charger police version tops out at 149 without any external lighting, as an example)

If they drive as well as they do other police-type things, I'd feel safer with them letting the Ferrari go and not having two amateurs driving at 150+.  One was bad enough.

Most fast cars are speed limited to about 150mph.

By a gentleman's agreement between the manufactures and insurers.

Fundamentally it's because 150 mph is where aero starts to be critical.
Many cars will lift their front wheels off the ground at 150mph+. Needs, at minimum, a low front air dam. One that you will lose on the first speed bump.

2020-09-29 6:50:53 PM

The knight who says EkiEkiPoontang: Most fast cars are speed limited to about 150mph.

Uh, no. You can buy cars that'll blow right by that from Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Mercedes, Porsche, etc., and that's not even getting into the exotics. You can buy used Hellcats that'll clear 190 all day for well under $50k.

By a gentleman's agreement between the manufactures and insurers.

It was an agreement between several German manufacturers to keep the Green party off their necks. The actual number was a nice round 250 Km/H, about 155 MPH. Porsche never signed on, and the rest let it go by the wayside several years ago.

Fundamentally it's because 150 mph is where aero starts to be critical.

That's a ridiculous overgeneralization. Some cars are unstable at < 100 MPH (Renault Espace, Nissan Versa, I'm looking at you), others are happy as clams at 180 (Porsche GT2 RS).

Many cars will lift their front wheels off the ground at 150mph+. Needs, at minimum, a low front air dam. One that you will lose on the first speed bump.

No, yet once more. Most modern cars experience lift at both ends, but much more at the rear than the front. See the 1st generation Audi TT for a perfect example of this. In the first year of production people were losing  control and crashing on the Autobahn, at speeds nowhere near 150 MPH. It was the back end coming around on them. Audi wound up fitting a spoiler just past the rear window fo keep the rear wheels on the ground.

Yeah, Ferrari F40 was really freaking planted at 185, Chrysler Sebring Convertible scared the crap out of me at 85 on a country road where the floaty suspension made it feel like the tires weren't making contact at every rise.
