Good for them. They deserve it.

Yay?

They should start the next season on Saturday. Most teams have had a lot of time off already.

What a weird, and disappointing NHL playoff season. I watched pretty much every game and the level of play seldom felt like playoff hockey. There were a couple good games, maybe two or three, but that was it.

Weird.

Only really watched from the Bruins perspective, but they're a damned good team.  I still have problems with warm weather NHL teams in general, but that's just me.

Do they still play the game outdoors on ponds up north or something?

Yes.  At least the kids do.

lol no they don't. every single outdoor game now is marketed as "the game returns to its roots!" and then every player they interview is like "well no, once I learned how to skate my parents drove me to the rinks every weekend for 15 years"

Too bad nobody told Dallas they had to show up for the first two periods last night.

Glad the Bolts got their with this line up. Anxious to see the trades start to happen now that the draft is next week. Going to be a lot of goalies on the move, some mid to big names, should be pretty interesting.

Well, yes.  If you go pro, you probably had rich parents.  That sport ain't cheap in competition.  I grew up in suburbia with 11 boys my own age, we played 5 on 5 street hockey/pond hockey.  No pads/helmets just sticks skates and hard pucks... and "Brian, if you lift the puck at my face just one more time I will beat the pulp out of you!"  I still see people playing on the local pond.

/Fark Brian, that kid sucked.

True. Was hoping for a game 7 just to make it more interesting. Stupid Stars.

How the Stars managed to make it that far while looking like an ECHL team all season long still baffles me.

Also, Tampa owes Dallas a huge debt of gratitude for knocking Colorado out.

Luke Schenn got a ring, which is great.  Mikhail Sergachev also got one, which is farking hilarious.

Yeah bro, I'm a diehard Stars fan and I can easily admit that the Lightning earned their victory, the overtime PP was kinda bullshiat, but that doesn't excuse lethargic play during other losses

Having only watched a few Stars games during the regular season, I figured lethargic was their strategy. Lull the other team to sleep with a boring brand of hockey.

Which is hilarious, because back when the NHL was started, their big deal was that they were playing indoors!

There's the tweet floating around about Dallas not being a hockey team, but a boa constrictor, and it's not wrong.  Glad their style didn't win in the end, because it makes it less likely their style gets copied, which means more open exciting hockey.
