I keep seeing bunkie donated to a charity. He didn't. Even though he said he targeted various govt agencies the money actually went into the general fund. He had to keep a buck to make it legal.

Or it is not legal. I dunno about that.

If you donate you salary you still owe the taxes. You only allowed to take the deduction for qualified charities but there is a limit and only when you file. DHS does not qualify.

But I was assured Nixon never cheated on his taxes!

"I made my mistakes, but in all my years of public life, I have never profited from public service. I've earned every cent. And in all of my years in public life I have never obstructed justice. And I think, too, that I can say that in my years of public life that I welcome this kind of examination because..."

because, well you know the rest

It is not philanthropy.

Dictators see no need for personal property, since the treasury is seen as an extension of their own will.

You can see the undemocractic way it extends into capitalism, where everyone is expected to have a good credit score that comes from active borrowing. The middle class gets its status from getting a small taste of what a dictator or CEO can do, which is to increase their debt and act as if it is wealth. And all the tax brackets live off one form of debt or another, relying on the work of the whole to pay for it. Their personal property, however, becomes less and less meaningful over time. Until, boom, everyone who is a worker is in debt and can't tell the difference between national debt and personal debt.

CEOs live like dictators. Why anyone would want them to write laws is a mystery.

I'm willing to suspect the reason why he doesn't take a salary is because it would be a very public and very well-known source of income that creditors would be all-too willing to seize and garnish.

That's how Trump survives: Don't report taxes, don't report income. Claim you have no money while quietly squirreling away millions to keep up the appearance of being wealthy and solvent.

He reports negative income to the IRS to evade taxes, he reports high asset value to banks to secure loans, he reports no profits to creditors to escape payments, and he reports massive wealth to the general public to puff up his ego. All four reports have insanely exaggerated numbers and none of them are true.

/All of the above are bona-fide Holocaust survivors who were comparing Trump to Hitler back before he was even the GOP frontrunner.

 Trump & Hitler.....
In honor of The Donald's candidacy for the Republican nomination,
Vanity Fair has re-published a 1990 profile of Donald Trump, written by Marie Brenner.
Remember, this was back before his hair (can we even call it that?) was fodder for every comic ever.
Instead, they had to settle for his blatant sexism, racism, and overinflated ego.
According to the piece, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that Trump often re-read
"My New Order," a collection of Adolf Hitler's speeches from 1918-1939.
What's more, Trump allegedly kept the book in a cabinet by his bed.
When Brenner asked about the book, Trump said,
"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he's a Jew."
Later, Trump said, "If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."
The best part? While Davis acknowledged being Trump's friend,
and giving him a copy of "My New Order" (not "Mein Kampf" as Trump claimed), he isn't even Jewish.
Donald Trump's aides recently made headlines for comparing Obama to Hitler on Facebook
and inserting Nazi SS uniforms into a promotional Twitter image.
Here's the full excerpt, per Vanity Fair:
Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism,
Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time
her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches,
My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed.
Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office,
as if it were a grenade.
Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939,
reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.
"Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?" I asked Trump.
Trump hesitated. "Who told you that?"
"I don't remember," I said.
"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me
a copy of Mein Kampf, and he's a Jew."
("I did give him a book about Hitler," Marty Davis said.
"But it was My New Order, Hitler's speeches, not Mein Kampf.
I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish.")
Later, Trump returned to this subject. "If I had these speeches,
and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

I saw I'mEric post on Twitter today, "when was the last time Biden donated his entire salary?"

Seriously.  What an asshole.  One trip to Mara Lago is about 10 times his salary.

Also, we now know that if he took that money, it would be harder for him to cheat on his taxes.  I mean, show less income so as not to pay his share.  I mean, it would be more difficult for him to honestly do his taxes.

As a discussion on the Internet grows longer, the probability of a comparison to Hitler or Nazis approaches 1.

It was coined back in 1992 on Usenet so it's been a pretty common thing for a long time.
