TWX: Heh. I was in a large local car club that a the time met at a restaurant, probably sixty or so people. The club officers were talking about upcoming events, and when he mentioned some event coming up on a Sunday, everyone in the group spontaneously went, "Sunday, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!"Then everyone looked around nervously at each other, the other patrons in the restaurant looked at us weirdly, and we moved on with the meeting.

FirstDennis: ....How can you have a monster truck event without confederate flags?,,,,
ohdontbeshy: Does anyone remember SNL having a cold open after Walt Disney died and it was just video of a coffin being pushed across a rink advertising Walt Disney's World on Ice? Maybe it was another sketch show?

cyberspacedout: mybluemake: Need a mashup!I would totally pay to see monster trucks on ice.
moike: Looking at the grandstands while watching the Russian F1 race this weekend it's apparent that Russians give no farks about any virus, facemasks, or social distancing.
Dahnkster: Dwayne Johnson's career as seen by through the eyes of Trump supporters...[Fark user image 850x478]You're welcome.
FriarReb98: The Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence will be interested to hear that, seeing as one of their main tenants (namely, my Friars) aren't playing there this year. Since they're not gonna have fans anyway they're moving back home to Alumni Hall on campus.\I'm assuming similar from St. John's, G'town, etc. will come to pass
The Green Intern: Having been one of those "monster trucks are a racist idiot's paradise" people before actually *going* to one of the events... I've actually been very happy and surprised at the amount of inclusion and general friendliness at your average Monster Jam event. Compared to other motorsports, it's a huge proportion of women and minority drivers, etc. Everybody backs one another up, regardless of team, and they often seem to be helping each other move around or move up between the various teams and garages.Dennis Anderson (Grave Digger's creator/driver) is 60 years old, and he only retired three years ago. He often says that the fans have paid for every bolt on his truck and every shingle on his roof, and if he has to sit around signing extra autographs or talking to extra fans, well. "They took the time to come out here, I can take the time to say hi."From a technology standpoint, the fact that you even have 57 year old drivers who did this for multiple decades and retire without being absolutely destroyed physically is a credit to the suspension, seat and overall design and fabrication methods and safety tech. Yeah, Anderson retired because of an injury, but he also dropped his truck on its top from thirty feet up, and the suspension ended up using him for cushioning.TL;DR, don't judge a book until you've walked a mile away with it.
Ragin' Asian: Honestly, why haven't they done a monster truck rally/Disney in Ice crossover performance? I'd pay Ticketmaster prices for that.
