(TwinCities.com)   Wisconsin appellate court rules that mail-in votes won't count if the mail is slow. Good thing no one's been working to slow down the mail   (twincities.com) divider line

Farkonaut: quiotu: This works so long as there isn't a COVID resurgence and everyone's scared to vote in person again.

Would be a shame if that stupidity happened a second time in Wisconsin and farked a particular party a second time.

But yeah... like someone said. If you're voting by mail the day of the election, just go in person.

I don't care at this point.
I'm voting in person, if that doesn't kill me, protesting if this shiat goes sideways or worse, certainly will.

Same here. And although my state has only a non-zero chance to help vote in Trump, I don't care. Republicans are planning to cheat wherever possible, so I am willing to take whatever risks I have to to make sure my vote against the orange dickbag gets proper counted.

serfdood: People need to farking request ballots now and mail them in immediately.

wrong answer.  the plan is to vote late so there are millions of ballots to be counted after election day which would create time and opportunities for chicanery and shenanigans.

That was friggin' beautiful. *wipes tears*

austerity101: austerity101: Halfabee64: austerity101: Does anyone remember when Wisconsin wasn't complete trash? I feel like less than a decade ago it was a halfway decent state.

This is what happens when you let Republicans take over. As soon as they're in power, they change all the laws and rules to make sure they stay there. It's time for Democrats to do the same thing.

How's that FOX CON plant working out? Good thing you seized all that land by eminent domain, built them a new highway, high-voltage power lines, water and sewer lines, and waived water pollution rules for them.

Was that addressed to me? I'm confused.

No, sorry, that was aimed at the people who thought electing the poster child for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome was a good idea.

So doing a little math in my head, there are 50 states, plus DC. And you can vote in person on election day, or through absentee, or mail-in voting. (Though some states vary.)

We're looking at roughly 153 different voting systems, 153 different ways of casting a ballot for President. Even though it's probably closer to 120, that's insane. Absolutely insane for a purported first-world country.

Professor_Doctor: If you send your ballot in on election day

1) You are a dumbarse

2) Your vote should count

Mine were turned in today. Fark Trump.

I can't believe you guys made me create a new account. I can't log into my 20 year old one because the email tied to that account belonged to and ISP that hasn't been in business for 15 years.

Anyway I can tell no one RTFA.

The Wisconsin judge in the original case said that having ballots come in late was a-ok. This latest development is due to a federal appellate court.

The only supposed advantage is that in order to cheat, you have to figure out how to do it in so many different ways instead of just one.

But if half the machines are Diebold, and you have the Diebold cheat codes, maybe it's not an issue.

I don't know if Diebold still owns the industry. I don't know how secure they are, so take all that with a grain of salt. But it should be harder to fix a decentralized election than a centralized election.

I have asthma, high blood pressure, and other issues that would make me a prime candidate for death if I catch covid.

I will still vote in person because getting rid of Trump and all the other treasonous, traitorous, piece of shiat republicans is more important to me than the risk of death.

that is the sad ass america we live in.

Not to mention, if they were in centralized control we really would have to worry about whether Trump would attempt to forego the election via executive order

menschenfresser: Oh, Wississippi... you used to be cool. Oktoberfests in La Crosse are some of the best times of my life I can't even remember. It's sad to see this decline. I blame right-wing media and the nuts in Waukesha County.

Ever since moving to the Twin Cities I've considered Wisconsin to be a lawless redneck wasteland. I mean, they let you buy fireworks while drinking Everclear on Sundays! I occasionally refer to it as North Alabama.

I was honestly shocked to see nearly equal numbers of Biden signs next to the Trump signs last time I was over there.

Wisconsin has early voting. If you can mask up to grocery shop you can mask up to early vote. I'm early voting tomorrow in Illinois.

Don't leave it for Election Day. What if you're sick the day of or stuck in quarantine?

Besides, Biden needs a good showing of votes before the polls close or two scoops will try to claim victory before all ballots are counted.

People who want to live are having their groceries delivered these days.
