Judging from what I read about his program, he's going full Cronkite!  Just reading the news, shutting up, and letting us make up our own minds about what we just saw.

FTA: In America people don't take away rights. That's not what America is. That's not what America does. America doesn't take away rights.

So, the Eighteenth Amendment doesn't count because it was repealed... eventually?

Too bad it's on CNBC so nobody will ever see it.

2020-09-28 5:25:40 PM
So he's going to spread his f*cking disinformation on CNBC now? F*ck him. He should be at the end of a noose for all of the sh*t he's supported.

"Shepherd Smith will use his new show to fight disinformation and idiocy"

Hard to imagine why he didn't fit in at Faux News...

Never mind the decades spent disenfranchising people based on their ethnicity.

If you think a CNBC program won't have an agenda...

Uh huh. (wanking motion)

Seriously. The love for this clown on this site is absurd.

The sad thing for Shep is that, due to his tenure at foxnews he has no credibility.

He's going to have to prove it.

\No, occasionally pushing back against some of the derpiest FUD does not nullify the harm he did helping to shovel all the rest of it

Hey People,
Violence against journalists is a stupid hobby of Donald J Trump. Don't be like Trump.

Isn't it a bit odd that so many Fox News castoffs end up with NBC?

2020-09-28 5:46:22 PM
Good. Now go back in time 20 years and do that at FOX.

Shep Smith's journalism will reek of Fox News infotainment forever.

Well, maybe he's now free to be the journalist he always wanted to be.

He's definitely been tainted but he's been shown to be a relatively righteous dude. I'm holding out hope

Not if you have no illusions whatsoever about what NBC is.

/Go ask Phil Donahue, Keith Olbermann, or Cenk Uygur how liberal the network of Hugh Hewitt, Joe Scarborough, and Stephanie "not quite Park Avenue" Ruhle is.

Sorry Blossom but this is not a very special episode.

We'll see.

Megyn Kelly couldn't wash off the stink.

That said, I don't hate Shep Smith, I don't love Shep Smith. He's journalistic popcorn. I expect him to be saltier with some buttery moments.

I'm too used to snorting lines of John Oliver's caffeinated habanero chocolate journalistic infotainment cocaine. I just want it all the time.

There's never a wrong time or thread for this picture:

He's a conservative propogandist who has shoveled their bullshiat for decades? And now he sees the writing on the wall and will try to do it in a genteel manner with all the dogwhistles in place.

FTFA:In America people don't take away rights. That's not what America is. That's not what America does. America doesn't take away rights.

If he's going to start fighting disinformation can he start with this quote from the article?

2020-09-28 6:01:09 PM
Well if the show's what he says it'll need to run for 15 years to completely cleanse his soul.

2020-09-28 6:01:36 PM
I'm worried that Shep Smith has always been around so that logic and facts are put on the same level as disinformation and strong feelings.

The medium is the message.

/Worried.

2020-09-28 6:01:45 PM
After spending a decade enabling it. Fark Shep.

2020-09-28 6:03:33 PM
Shep was a rare voice of reason on Fox News since its inception. Trump humpers hate him with a passion, and that's all you need to know really. He's a good journalist, cares about doing his job, and is going to a place where the typical audience demographic doesn't want to string him up by his neck. Good for him.

And I doubt he's conservative. He's gay and certainly not a bootlicker.

2020-09-28 6:03:53 PM

Purple_Urkle: We'll see.

Yes we will.

I am encouraged by the way he's approaching it. A real news program without opinions. That will be refreshing so long as he aims for political neutrality (sorta like Smerconish, maybe? Who I really like).

I'm an Egyptian!: He's a conservative propogandist who has shoveled their bullshiat for decades? And now he sees the writing on the wall and will try to do it in a genteel manner with all the dogwhistles in place.

Well, I hope your wrong. I honestly don't know what will happen... other than it'll be interesting for at least part of one show.

Yeah, it was a rhetorical question, really.  I just get told all the time that NBC is "liberal media" and I'm kind of sick of it.

Unfortunately, the slower viewers have established "MSNBC = lib'rul" so when former Dubya apologists and hedge fund managers go on to talk about "radical leftists" and "purity tests," they don't stop to question it for a second.

Rich white gays are, first and foremost, rich and white. They are cheerfully conservative.

Honey, he bootlicked his entire career so far.

But other than that, your argument is sound.
