Be a shame if Senators went out to campaign and were blocked from returning.

I know that, but fark 'em.  Disrupt everything you possibly can.  Since that's the way the Rs play the game (how many bills have passed the House and are still sitting on Turtle's desk?), give it back to them.

Even with using every trick, dirty or otherwise, it's going to be terribly hard to keep the SCOTUS seat unfilled for 4 months, with a Senate Majority Leader that gives this little of a shiat.

I approve of them doing all they can to slow things down, but it will unlikely be enough. Though it's just as likely Amy Coney Barrett will be given the nickname 'Plague Maiden' for being rushed into SCOTUS instead of working on anything associated with COVID stimulus.

I understand how pissed the left is at the hypocrisy and losing in this power grab.  I'm pissed too.
But is there anything to gain by plain obstructionism? At this point, I think the only thing the Ds can achieve is to deny the right the talking points and optics of unreasonable obstruction. I wish there were other options, but until the left has more power, there are none. Yes, repeat the lying, hypocritical words of Blanche, et al. But to not see there's only one shiatty conclusion to this crap-ass situation is stupid.

This reminds me of an old Star Trek TNG episode...  The basic gist was that there was a bunch of colonists on this planet, and these aliens wanted to remove them.  They were just going to exterminate them, literally.

They had this treaty in place that allowed them to do this legally.

Picard finally had enough and said, "They've been beating us over the head with this treaty.  Let's read this thing and find something we can use for OUR side"

The solution was to choose an alien race to arbitrate, but that race was is hibernation for 6 more months.  And there was nothing the aliens could legally do.

This. People are pissed by the lack of action, even if it's just a perceived lack of action. Just look at, well, any Fark Politics thread.

For almost twenty years, we've watched the Democrats sit back and merely complain while Republicans threw every law and political norm into the fire. It's long past time for them to throw a few real punches.

Honestly, as soon as the first impeachment wrapped up, they should have started another. God knows Trump violates every law he can find like it's one of Epstein's thirteen year-old victims, and he doesn't even bother to hide most of it.

Yes.  If Republicans in the Senate have to be on call to respond to Dems' obstructionism that means they're not campaigning during the weeks leading up to the election.  Sure, Dems won't be campaigning either, but I assert that this hurts the Republicans more because they're on the defensive this election.

This is the most blatantly morally justifiable time for obstructionism in recent history because of the threat to the ACA.  Literal lives will be saved if the obstructionism is successful.

Sort of. They are "in on it" in that they need to appease their donors. Now, they are facing a true horror. It looks like the voting public are ignoring monetary attempts to move votes.

This is an actual Both Sides thing. Almost every likely voter is locked in. They can toss money and it doesn't matter. The people are speaking and the donor class is terrified. So, both sides are trying to change tack.

Its a good episode. The other half of the story is Data on the surface trying to convince the colonists to leave peacefully, because they're insisting on staying and defending their homes from the invading force. Data convinces the colonists that there will be no invading force. By showing off the destructive power of a single handheld phaser, he makes them realize that the aliens who really own the planet will just nuke the colony from orbit.

They weren't going to anyway, but that's never stopped a Dem groping for any excuse to ignore their constituents and do the will of the owner class.
