There is literally no more easily grifted group than the terrified, superstitious, gullible, undereducated, unworldly, incurious American right. The most incredible part is when told they've been duped, they not only don't examine their views or revile their grifters, they just plain don't care and go buy some different snake oil from the next freedom loving bible thumping patriot that comes by. It's the most bizarre combination of masochism and Stockholm Syndrome of all time.

Shocking.

No wonder Trump is out of money, his "allies" have already emptied the pockets of his key demographic.

I don't believe the allegations. Trump only surrounds himself with The Best People.

Although he did drain Steve Bannon from the swamp. So that's THEORETICALLY something. Of couse if he hadn't put Steve Bannon in the swamp in the first place it would have been meaningful.

Trump has in fact drained the swamp pretty well. He's sacked a bunch of scumbags he himself hired to be part of the swamp in the first place. I don't think that's exactly what Trump voters voted for, but technically it's a promise he's kept.

They live in constant fear. That makes them easy prey for those who sell them the illusion of security, whether they're using that fear to take their money, their votes, or both.

Articles in Quartz last year detailed how the company used a combination of politically themed Facebook ads, talk radio spots, misleading websites, and high-pressure telephone sales tactics to target right-leaning, Fox News-viewing retirees and convince them to purchase gold and silver at hugely inflated rates.

These efforts often involved overt biblical appeals, or echoed the rhetoric of President Donald Trump and Republican pundits by invoking the threat "liberals" and the "Deep State" supposedly posed to the economy and to the victims' personal finances.

"Why does it have value?"

"Because people believe it makes them look pretty when they wear it."

Getting people to vote Republican is just a more circuitous path to removing fools from their money. No surprise they use the direct methods too.

Thomm Hartmann (progressive) pushes, or at least used to, ITM Trading gold coins all the time. "I got some gold from ITM Trading, and so should you!"  It's what made me stop listening to him.

If they want gold and silver that much they probably could have gotten it from the US mint or a coin shop, hell there are mints around the world that are legitimate that they could get them from for less.
They probably could have planned for their own and made more.

So the scammers and Bannon used the same ad company?  Meh

I was hoping it was a connection that would get Bannon an indictment.

To do that, you would need to research the gold market.  Real Americans don't research. They get their facts from their friends, who also don't research.  They had no idea there was a legitimate way to buy gold.

What's the big deal with gold? My wife owns a small mountain of it since her family transferred their wealth to gold when getting out of their home country then decided to never spend a dime of that money.

Gold os boring because you'd do almost anything to not part with it.
