studebaker hoch: I've gained fifteen pounds, easily.

Weirdly, I lost ten.  Guess going seven months without Mongolian BBQ was going to have some effect.

You know you can get out and exercise, right? It's easy to go out for a socially distanced walk, run, or hike, especially when you don't have to commute back and forth to work.

I switched my hour commute for my daily workout and I'm up to running 4-5 miles a day.  It's the only change I made.

I'm down 20 pounds, my cholesterol has dropped through the floor, my blood pressure has normalized, and my sleep has gone from 5 hours a night to a solid 7-8.  Had my annual physical last week and my doctor was amazed.

Choices have ramifications.

It IS easy to do that.

That's why the assholes who jog on crowded sidewalks without a mask are super assholes

I've gained about 20 pounds. I went for a long walk today and I'm really feeling it.

I also have either carpal tunnel in my hand or some sort of nerve damage. I see the doctor on the 8th.

But the good news is the corns on my feet went away!

I got depressed being home all the time. At least when my gym reopened I can keep and build more muscle rather than the no gym workout crap.

I've certainly cultivated some mass. Trying to run every day, but my ankle hurts.

I've managed to lose 15 pounds since this started.

Good:

I'm no longer getting fast food for lunch (Burger King & McDonald's mostly) 2-3 times per week. Might get the chicken sandwich from Popeye's once a month or so.

I've cut back significantly on my sodas. I was down to one a week, but I've been far less disciplined in the last couple of weeks.

I've had a "Teeter FreeStep Recumbent Cross Trainer and Elliptical" since last November, and I feel like that's helped my progress. It's not fancy, but it's helpful & doesn't take up much space.

Side note - I've had an odd issue with my Fitbit twice recently. Both times, I tapped it, selected my exercise, and tapped start. And both times, it apparently "stopped" the exercise after a couple of seconds.

Not a big deal, but both times it said I was burning, I kid you not, 922,337,203,685,477,630 calories per minute.

Since I didn't tear a hold in the fabric of time and space on my elliptical, I'm guessing that's a bug.

Bad:

We're getting pizza every other week. We were only getting it once a month.

Cutting back on my sodas had a side effect. I didn't realize that having one in the morning was masking the fact that I wasn't getting full from my morning bowl of cereal.

The only thing that seems stick with me (without spending 20-30 minutes to cook) is Pop Tarts. So...not exactly a good trade off there.

I'm going to try to swap those out with those ginormous Honeycrisp apples and see if that works out any better. For God's sake, they weight a pound each. Surely that would be enough...

Since I'm not going to the office 5 days a week and am staying home as much as possible, I'm getting in about 75,000 fewer steps per month than I was pre-pandemic (~205,000 per month, down from ~280,000).

Snacking - I apparently have no discipline when there are Doritos in the house. Tostitos are also problematic.

Been working throughout the whole Covid mess.. never stopped... NBD, as I work alone..  couldn't go in supply houses : call the order in, pay with CC, pick the stuff up outside.. workable.   don't hang with groups, no bars, mask and distancing when grocery shopping.. mild blood clots in April,   blood thinner covered that, no damage..   at my age, use it or lose it... residential hvac : either basement, utility room or attic.. easy to isolate, don't want to give it or get it.

I'm still clocking 9000+ steps a day during the work week.  My industry wasn't affected by Covid at all (fortunately).

On weekends tho I'm a lazy piece of sh*t and I'm okay with that.

Stayed in during the whole covid thing, tried to eat reasonably, maybe gained 5 pounds. Didn't go out much because it was too hot this summer. Bought a new bike and was just ready to start working out again because of a break in the weather but instead I fell hard and fractured my ankle last week, and was told by an ortho surgeon to wear a brace and stay off it as much as possible for 12 weeks. I know I'm terribly out of shape and need some cardio but can't really do anything now. Sucks. I have so much I want to do.

I lost about five, mostly muscle mass, but I just got my home gym set up so I expect to gain that back by the end of the year.

Gained a bit.  Up to a bmi 20.  Up to a more healthy weight.

My work hours haven't changed a bit, though I'm doing a bit less while there.  I've gained a bit more weight.

With fall allergies underway, and perhaps breathing some smoke from the west coast, I had to pick up some NyQuil to help get to sleep.

I lost forty, after realizing I feel perfectly fine eating just one meal a day and skipping sodas.

This article is about the people who don't do that.

Myself, I probably get 20 minutes a day. Way to little.

Cat on the keyboard....

I coordinate with the customer on keeping the kids, etc out of where I am working... and wear blue nitrile gloves while in the house...  also use white kevlar booties on my shoes when inside, mainly to prevent tracking dirt around..  keeps the 'lady of the house' off my case..  lots quicker than taking my work boots off... work safely, for all involved.

TFA was about the ramifications of not exercising, that has jack shiat to do with staying home.

I've lost nearly 30 lbs, with walking the dog and a weight rack in the garage. I've gone from staining to do bodyweight squats to 215 lbs yesterday.

Bad news is if you don't already have the weights though. Good luck getting them. Olympic weight plate got double-whammied with a surge in demand because people were home and wanted them, and supply chain disruptions. Pretty '

I've lost a bit of muscle mass in the upper body but still exercising. Gained a couple pounds.
If you were a gym rat you make an effort to work out at home.  We bought a power trainer for bikes and we use it.

Thanks for the comments of how you actually got into better shape during the pandemic.

That's pretty cool.
