Deep fried chicken cordon blue stuffed waffles w/ chipotle syrup.  I'll take two despite the unfortunate name.

The steak fried in beef tallow is intriguing. I wonder how it's tenderized.

I think a mashed potato funnel cake could be pretty good.

Normally we'd be driving down there a couple of weekends from now (have to dodge the football games at the cotton bowl) with a handful of food coupons, a couple of water bottles, a lot of patience, and a map of the fairgrounds showing where all the new foods are at. Sad to say I'm not taking advantage of the drive through state fair.  I figure I can photoshop myself into a picture with Big Tex if I really want one, and if I wanted to sit in my car and eat I can do to Sonic and do that.

Next year, we'll wend our way down to fair park, ogle the butter sculpture, and see what the carnies hibernated in a trailer til they saw their shadow or something.

Ever had one of these?

Hot Beef Sundæ. What looks like vanilla ice cream is actually mashed potatoes, scooped with an ice cream scooper. What looks like chocolate and vanilla ice scream is sliced medium-cooked roast beef (pink in the middle). The "fudge" is brown gravy. The "butterscotch drizzle" is melted shredded cheddar cheese (the nearly transparent kind). And that's a cherry tomato on top, not a maraschino cherry. Served very warm.

We're doing this tomorrow. If the thread is still open later, I'll give updates. Heck, I may give updates as we roll through.

Deep fry an air fryer and shoot it out of a cannon, into another bigger cannon and then into the mud pit for the bog.

The line continues! We're about halfway through the line. Where it goes from here? No idea. This is about three more turns through the parking lot.

My brother and his family are in the car behind us. We're talking on our phones over the Bluetooth connection in the car and playing Superfight. We each have half the deck of cards.

Thosw, I have to ask, is it worth it?

FreeLawyer: Thosw, I have to ask, is it worth it?

You'll have to be the judge of that.

For basically $25/person, you get:

Bottled drink (I got a diet Dr Pepper)
Order of French fries (kinda like five guys, greasy as hell and limp)
Fletcher's corn dog
Bag of kettle corn
Bag of cotton candy
Fried Oreos
Two "prizes" that are mid-tier Midway level
Picture w/ Big Tex

We had a two-hour wait to get in and then it took approx. 30-40 min to wind through the fairgrounds.

You could probably cut down on the wait time if you went after, say, 2pm.

I'd eat the crab bombs, but then I'll eat almost any seafood...
