The crazies already think The Masked Singer was a prelude to Covid, so I'm sure they will have logical reactions to this series.

I mean it mainly seemed like a crazy person running around f*cking everyone and constantly getting in trouble...

Oh. I see what you mean.

There is no help.  The best plans we have amount to rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.  Humanity is doomed.  We think that looking 50 years ahead is long term thinking.  It will take a while and won't be pretty. Whether or not idiots think that one honestly fairly mild pandemic is a hoax or not, won't make much difference.  The next one will be worse, or the one after that.

Eh, I liked the British version.

I tried the first episode and a half of this one. Not sure if I'm going to continue on.

Just finished it. I liked it. Some advice though. There will on not be a second season due to general reactions and the first season doesn't really have an ending ending.

Yes.. it was on Channel 4 back in 2013. Not sure if this will work outside the UK.. but this is a synopsis of the first series.

Samantha is a totally new character.... because every group of geeks needs a pretty blonde white woman.

They race swapped Ian and Becky. Wilson Wilson is pretty spot on.

I think I was hooked from the first chilling scene in the comic book store.

This seems ok by comparison... there were a few things that I found a bit off. Our four heroes being the only people from the list not in their hotel rooms when the convention was still busy and the bars were open. Arby and Rod's injection not working on the seller straight away because the script needed someone for Jessica to reveal herself to. It definitely felt americanised.

I've never watched that. Don't know if now would be the best time to start. Every time I read something going on in this present dystopia, I feel like if there is a god, she has abandoned us to be ruled over by the crazies in the asylum.

Someone pointed out that this is the new normal, especially for subscription channels, and I can't stop thinking about it.

Subscription channels aren't motivated to tie up shows or seasons in nice neat bows.  They're motivated to give you questions and cliffhangers, to keep you subscribed.  I think it's why I find my interest waning on Raised by Wolves, and The Boys.

Or maybe I'm finally becoming more cynical in my 50s.

It's not the filmmakers' fault we're in this mess; it's not their fault so much of the public is superstitious and gullible; and it won't be their fault if Utopia gives some dumbass the confidence they need to quit wearing a mask and infect and kill you or the people you care about.

But let's punish them anyway for the stupid beliefs of a minority of people.

/And if you think the majority of people already believe this, then we're already farked and cancelling a TV show won't help anyway

And the description of the show says nothing about rednecks, trollmitter.

Once the title of a movie or TV show is leaked I don't bother.

I feel like Amazon is prepping us for violence because they are normalizing some pretty gruesome behavior. Between this and The Boys you could develop PTSD.

If you tell someone that doesn't happen, you're telling them something that happens.  My father used to call me up to talk about NASCAR races before I'd watched them.  "Well Jeff Gordon didn't win!"  Thanks dad.  Now I know something that happens.  "No!  It's not a spoiler!  He DIDN'T win!"

I binged it and I enjoyed it.  I knew nothing about it, nor the brit version.  I was a bit surprised at some of the violence but it made sense.  I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10.

My general opinion of the series. Trying the UK version. So far (after two episodes), the only things the US version definitely wins on are the artwork in the onscreen comic, the actor who plays Grant, and the two actors who play the cleanup team. The UK version is better on every other thing so far.

Wasn't that what Firefly was? A romanticized sci-fi parable of a post Civil War Southern soldier trying to get by as a freelance courier?

Yeah, I mentioned this in another thread the other day but it just felt off to me. I couldn't quite pinpoint what though. The whole production felt like it's not quite up to the quality of the top tier shows we're used to these days, but it's also not bad either.

From what I saw the artwork in the US version did look pretty cool. I'm not with you on the cleanup crew though. I thought the UK guys in those roles were better. Again, I only saw the first 1.5 episodes. I just thought the US version of the hipstery guy felt miscast.

I also found the Sam character annoying. Not sure if she got better.
