Go Lakers!

I think the two teams that win in this round of the playoffs should play each other in the next round, and the winner of that series should play the New York Knicks.

If the Nuggets pull a third series out from 3-1, I'll know we're living in one of Elon's simulations, and 2020 is just a floating point regression error.

Nuggets pulling off two wins in a row would set up for a very watched game seven.  Do eeeet!

JFC, "Three Ring Circus" is the gift that keeps on giving. 538's excerpt today is epic. Kobe punching Samaki Walker over $100 bucks, then Samaki getting Phil to pull the bus over and Kobe refusing to go throw. Beautiful.

Wait a minute, what?  I take it this is a new book and there are excerpts on 538?

I always disliked Kobe, but I can't read enough about his time with the Lakers.  So far Phil's overly honest takedown is my favorite

Found the book (praise Pearlman) but haven't found excerpts yet.

Samaki Walker played for Louisville, so I hope all the bad things happened to him

The cursing is the latest addition to Bryant's paint-by-numbers approach to sounding hardened, and it's as authentic as $5 mink.
"It was his Beanie Sigel phase," says McCoy. "Really fake."

That's exactly right.  He always seemed like he was trying too hard to be exactly like MJ.  The biggest reason I didn't like him.  Dude, if you have a self, then be that.

I kind of understand it. putting yourself in the mind of a real alpha-male, in professional sports where the best of the best exist.  You're modeling yourself after who you've seen before.

Even as a totally normal, not alpha male athlete in any way, I get all my drive from seeing what the best of the best have done before me, lifting weights and playing guitar and being inspired to be like the ones i aspired to be.

WillofJ2: Take the score board away and I would swear the lakers were up 25. Nuggets just hanging in

Absolutely.  Feels like they're barely there.

I have loved the NBA bubble experience.  Beyond just being grateful to have basketball back; there have been more close games (if not series) than we normally have, and it's been great to have so little time between games.  And some great individual and team stories, for my part.

Please don't let the bubble experience end with another Lakers title, especially a Lakers team with no homegrown players. That would suck

And Dwight Howard ffs.  Does anyone want to live in a world where Dwight Howard gets a ring?  This has to secretly bother even Lakers fans

AD had to take that shot as poorly as possible for Grant to block it.  He could've easily dunked that ball.

If the Nuggets will show up for 5-6 minutes they could win handily

I've missed a lot of commentary in the game, but after the hard foul, I thought I heard one of the guys say something about Murray already being hurt, and then the hard foul.  Was wondering if he's hurt and I failed to hear about it somehow.

Granted they've defended him pretty well, but he really doesn't look like himself tonight.

If murray is hurt is it worth leaving him out there?  It seems to have happened a lot in recent years where a team leaves a Guy in then he gets seriously hurt

I don't follow NBA too much, but I did see the boneheaded play by JR Smith for Clveland a couple years ago. Can anyone tell me why the Lakers have him? Is he a good contributor for them?

Hes pretty far down the rotation, late season pickup to fill up the squad.

Avery Bradley decided not to come to the bubble they picked him up to be a 3 and d guy, except in limited minutes he hasn't been great at either

This is the first Lakers team I haven't hated in decades.  I don't even care that they're mercenaries. In fact, that's probably what I don't mind about them.

However, the Nuggets are the team that got me to tune back into basketball a couple of weeks ago after years away. A point center!? fark yeah.

I was saying he's looked like shiat and exhausted since the first half of game 2 and he was still dropping lines like 30 10 11 in their one L.  I mean, he was also killing runs and making uncharacteristic mistakes.  But he was still producing crazy numbers.

He looked fresh tonight.
