Bad timing on their part, when there is starting to be serious pushback against the idea.

Eventually every company twisting every other company's arm to make a buck is going to render nothing profitable. The cash will just flow around and around between them because they owe each other everything they have and nobody else can even afford their products anymore.

Assuming the vacuuming of all the cash in the country into the pockets of a dozen people doesn't render money worthless first.

I'm torn about this. On the one hand developers use in-app purchases to circumvent fees. On the other hand the cut that they (and Apple) take is pretty massive.

zgrizz: Paywall. Why do idiots post paywall articles? Why does Fark greenlight paywall articles?

It's like wafting the scent of popcorn into a Weight Watchers meeting. It's hateful, callous and cruel - but for some reason the people doing it think they're doing a service.

Bloomberg and WaPo have figured out how to block  Soon, that option will go away anf EVERYTHING will be paywalled.

This is exactly what Roku is doing and it makes perfect sense.

...............................So long as you treat everyone the same.  Roku decided to treat comcast and at&t differently and the companies didn't knuckle under.  Wasn't until comcast threatened to go scorched Earth turning the tables that Roku knuckled under.  Making roku a giant ass.

/If someone is going to rely on your service to reach consumers, asking for a cut is well within your rights.
