As I said. They will simply watch the infighting.

Subby, that also means "When Herr Trumpf blatantly cheats, we will patriotically wait until the Fourth Reich is declared before rushing in to kill any civilian who balks."

It is super healthy that they issued this statement.

Trump does not have the backing of the US military for any hypothetical coup d'etat.

We are winning.

You mean the US courts that Trump has been stacking with Republican lackies, and the US Congress in which the Republicans currently have a majority?

Sure, that seems fair.

Or, they are planning to do nothing when the MAGAstaffel start one.  The US military is not known for being particularly favorable to the Abbie Hoffmans of the world.

I agree, but I'm glad it's been said because I'm seeing a lot of frightened people on social media over all of this, which is the main purpose of Trump's strongman rhetoric.

These statements reaffirm America's institutional strength and Trump cannot overcome that.

How do you see this as them saying they will not back Trump? I see this as them saying they'll accept whatever he declares to be true.

So when an obviously partisan court rules that the mail in votes in blue districts shouldn't be counted because reasons we can expect the military to side with the fascists.

Donnie isn't going to use the military to "settle" the election. He'll deploy them for "national defense" after he declares the protesters "insurrectionists".

We are not winning, We are tied at this point, and the other team is cheating their asses off and also appointing the refs.

The military will not overthrow the government for him, is all this says.  If the republicans steal the election and it's finally declared for Trump, they'll fall in line and obey the duly elected President.  if that President issues orders to round up civilians for being terrorists, they'll do it, posse comitatus be damned.  If the President wants a permanent round-the-clock 1,000-man body guard to keep civilian protesters from endangering him with their words, they'll do it.  If they are ordered to go in and crack heads, they'll follow orders.

Why the f*ck does anyone believe otherwise after the church photo-op?

As often as they've been bringing out national guards before announcing another cop is getting away with murder it wouldn't surprise me if he brings out some kind of military forces the night of "just in case of riots". And these forces would be in swing states. In areas he wants to suppress votes.

"The US military is adamant that it will not play a role settling election disputes with its top uniformed officer, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley clearly setting out the Pentagon's position in a letter to Congress last month."

Letter was last month.  Tweet was today.  Still a problem, but let's calm the f*ck down please.

2020-09-25 1:22:01 PM
Actually, I think they're right about "election disputes" in its most literal form. However, if there is massive civil uprising - that is, if armed militia began attacking citizens - it is no longer about "playing a role in resolving election disputes".

More likely he will use domestic law enforcement, PMCs or both.

Also: Trump's supporters and enforcers will not see themselves as promoting a coup. They will see themselves as countering a coup from the Democrat Party.

If the generals do get the military involved (God forbid) they aren't going in on the side of Trump.

We've gone a long way downhill as a nation. It's going to take some damn brilliant leadership to get the country back together, undo the damage wrought by Trump, and stop the information warfare coming from China and Russia.

I hope Biden is up to the job.

Or 2018.

Once again, you start letting the police, the patriots, and the loonies pack the places to vote, you're mostly packing schools and churches. And only one of those groups is allowed to have guns there.

That's not going to turn out well for anyone no matter what the response.

he can't deploy the federal military internally.  he can send them halfway around the globe a week or two before with all of their heavy weaponry.

I'm pretty certain there will be armed squads at certain strategic polling locations.  It wont be government. It will be militias.

Trump doesn't need to directly communicate to them what they need to do, and that gives a layer of plausible deniability long enough to foment chaos where needed.

There are planning discussions going on right now among right wing militia groups about where and how to deploy, guaranteed.

Plan accordingly.

Did you forget about those races?

The Joint Chiefs are desperately clinging to their apolitical stance while waiting for things to return to normal. I doubt they have a plan for normal never coming back. Republics fall when the military gets political, whether the aim of the military is to restore the republic, or establish a new one, and none of the Joint Chiefs want that shiat to happen on their watch.

He's referring to the Senate, and the "mandate" that gave to Senate Republicans to ratfark Ginsburgs legacy.

Its not the U.S. military that concerns me.  Its Trump's buddy Erik Prince and his mercenaries.

How few well trained experienced soldiers with an actual plan would it take to turn America upside down?  50?  20?  All ready to be pardoned by the President because they did it in D.C.

2020-09-25 1:34:33 PM
I.e. if Trumps steals the election, don't expect the military to save you.
