Not surprised. I once brought up the fact Trump lies constantly to a Republican who said he got the most electoral college votes for a Republican since Reagan... When I showed her that was false, she then started harping on about how the liberal media lies.

Facebook should be shut down or held accountable for spreading bs.

Maybe I had added a bit of hyperbole, but otherwise nope. That hewed pretty closely to what my expectations were for the video.

There, I spent the 4 minutes to watch the video and ensure I wasn't getting carried away making unfounded presumptions. Happy?

These people need to be deprogrammed.  Literally nothing else will help them.  Literally.

People usually think "authoritarianism" is bad, but at some point we really do need the government to step in and fix things.  That is the only way this country will survive.  We can save these people, but it's gonna take a real strong hand.

In other words, we're screwed, because the Democrats will never, ever, ever let that happen.  Ever.

Also, the government has a very significant interest in not letting fascist propaganda and hate speech spread, and so those forms of speech, like in most of the first world, should absolutely be severely curtailed.  Popper knew about this nearly 90 years ago.  We have to restrict hate speech and propaganda.  We have to.

If we had less religion and more education this wouldn't be much of an issue.  Anyone who has basic critical thinking skills and a will to also seek information outside of social media is just fine.  Well, there's also the mental health aspect, but that's a whole other ball of wax.

Probably not.

If Britain had had the raw wealth of the Americas in the 1790s, and the innovations and manpower that eventually came with it, Britain would have been in a position to put down a lot of the minor wars of the 19th century.

And expanding both East and West would have given them a power and reach unrivaled in scope since Imperial Rome.

And without the humanist revolution of France, Marxism might never have evolved at all.

yep.....'reaching them' is over. Maybe a few will be converted, but the MAGAts are all in at this point. Interviews like this one from CNN will be the plentiful for the next 37 days, but it won't change anything. Even when the count comes in, there is going to be another couple months of handwringing. The vote is set already. We just don't have the final numbers in front of us.

If COVID has been good for anything, at least it has provided the reason to avoid gathering with my dip-shiat pro Trump family for the holidays. Until 1/6/2020, I am staying out of sight. After that, who knows?

1/6/2020 cannot come fast enough.

To quote John Oliver, somewhere.

You realize that most other civilized countries have limitations on hate speech, right?  And that they haven't turned into totalitarian hellscapes?  Let's not pretend that we have to reinvent the wheel, here.  The work has largely been done.
